For those that complained about grinding two more Vet Ranks...

My wife and I logged in last night after work at about 5:30 PM. When we logged off at 12:30 we were both VR16. A longer night than usual for us with work this morning, but hardly worth complaining about.

Yeah.. it doesn't take much XP. I didn't get in much actual gameplay (too busy trying to stop my health and magicka bars stop staring at me) but it's definitely going to be a quick road to VR16. Pretty sure the majority of players I now that were VR14 before IC.. are now VR16.

The people complaining about the cap increase were complaining about the re-grinding of v16 gear, not the couple of hours it will take to reach v16.

And if you choose to craft any V16 gear, it'll require a lot of grinding for the resources too.

And just a side note. Questing in Craglorn seemed to be a great source of XP. We were saving a lot of quests there for the update and it worked out well. ESO +, Ring of Mara, XP Drinks and Craglorn!

Yeah, the getting the gear again is going to take a while. Except for the shoulders, because everybody has been keeping their keys, right?

It is MMO and getting new gear after every big update is normal for this type of games.

70 keys on my VR10 Nightblade, just need to push him to V16.

But yeah grinding the new Scathing Mage set will be a pain in the ass. Same thing with my Nerien'eth helm. That thing hits like a truck now.

I'm pretty sure if I had actually gotten to play last night instead of spending all evening re-buying all of my skills on all of my characters my VR14 would probably be at VR16 (or at least very close).

Some were complaining about that, some were complaining about having to grind out the XP to get to VR16. Heck, look at the thread where people are complaining "ZOS stole ma XP! I should already be at VR16 because entitlement!"

Anyone who has had a VR14 character for a while (long enough to earn 850,000+ XP as a VR14) would log on to find themselves 1 XP away from VR15, so really you're looking at them gaining 850,000 XP in 7 hours. Sounds pretty reasonable and easily doable to me, and I'm sure someone who's grinding could do it much much more quickly. I mean, they were probably just playing the game normally without worrying about maximizing XP, and still able to hit the new cap in one evening.

My complaint about grinding to v16 wasn't how much xp it was but where I'd be going to get that xp and the rate at which you would be getting that xp in the areas you'd need to be at. Craglorn xp is still a joke sadly so I had to think outside the box to find reasonable xp/minute for V14+ toons.

Went to some of the old grind spots and quickly noticed they got nerfed. Decided to check out IC and found that the mobs are worth WAY more xp then anything I could find anywhere else. As a bonus I was also farming v15 drops and TV stones. Mobs were worth 600-1000 each without using xp pots.

OK, so you're looking for a place to get 850,000 XP (because if you've been VR14 for a while you're starting off essentially already at VR15). How much XP do the Craglorn daily quests now give you? And the Undaunted pledges? And the Cyrodiil daily quests?

Congrats on the power leveling, but I think these guys care more about gathering vet 16 versions of all their stuff.

Although 14 is a strange place to end a progression system, they must have known the cap would be pushed up at some point so I wouldn't take the gripes seriously, probably more general in nature.

My only concern. What do we do once hitting VR16? All grinding spots outside of Craglorn become redundant. Guessing Craglorn is going to become popular again.

I love Veteran Ranks, I love gaining levels, since pen and paper D&D I have enjoyed character progression in all its exp goodness.

Its not the grind, its the gear.

16 = 14 stats.

We basically become v12 having to earn ourselves back to 14,

Also now v16 gear is limited... scale more gear to v16 not just the new gear.

Im not asking for people to make my gear v16 but I would like more gear to drop at v16

Just pointing out that if you were a subscriber from launch and bought the 70 dollar collectors addition you are only in about $325, $650 or so if you bought and pay for your wife's subscription too. Of course if you are doing it right she is paying for both accounts

The other day my sorc was 3000000 veteran points away from top rank, now it's 5000000.

I never complained about the extra two levels, but I don't think most people complaining about it were sitting at vr14. It would be odd if someone complained about being able to level up twice more, it's the people chasing the top rank who now have been put back 2million who don't like the extra ranks.

Cap was originally VR10 at game release. Went to VR12 when lower Crag came out, then VR14 when upper Crag came out. Now it's VR16 with IC, and it will probably be VR18 with the next release.

Eventually they'll get to the point where there's 3600 VR ranks, and the VR system will be merged with the Champion system.

The XP grind isn't the problem, it's creating the new VR16 gold gear. 7 pieces of armor plus 2 weapons (plus a shield for tanks) is 72 or 80 gold tempers. That's roughly 300K in just gold tempers. Add in all the blue and purple tempers and the 13 Kuta runes for the whole shebang (including the 3 pieces of jewelry) and you'll be out close to half a million gold just upgrading ONE toon. And that's for veteran ranks that will be superseded in what, 4 months when Orsinium/Wrothgar releases? Oh, and let's not forget their "plan" to remove veteran ranks altogether. This is going to be an amazing drain on the gold reserves. I wonder if there will be any millionaires left in Tamriel by 2016?

Actually not really... after deconstructing all the gear I got from my last play session of about 2 hours I got enough to craft 2 pieces, another few days and I'll have enough for a full set but it's the Vault sets we all really want and that will take a little longer
