Once the sales for ESO die down... and DLC doesn't entice NEW sales I fully expect to see ESO go full on F2P.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

I always just get my games from retailers like Target or Walmart. Wait a month and they'll either go on sale or the price will permanently drop online, then just pick up in store. I refuse to deal with gamestop, based solely on their *** buy back prices.

Sooo..... 10 minutes from now? ;)

I'm pretty sure the sales are already down, the consensus seems to be that ESO on console is a much worse experience than ESO on the PC, and ESO on the PC was never rated a stellar experience. This game, like any, will always have its die hard fans, but I don't see too much longevity in this game (and I have been playing since PC beta).

Realistically I wouldn't expect the game to go F2P until after Orsinium comes out, at that point they can use the regular game as a freebie \ giveaway and then have PvE DLC to entice subs \ purchases.

In addition to that, a lot of the crowd for this game are TES fans who were expecting something closer to Skyrim online, and the failure to really deliver on that will have many of them migrating to the slew of new games coming out in the next few months.

I was actually expecting Skyrim Online, but after playing eso, I can't go back to Skyrim. I tried during eso maintenance, but Skyrim just felt so slow paced and sluggish. I even attempted finding mods that would make it act like ESO. None could be found, so I skulked the forums like a leech to this MMOs veins to gain any sustenance I could until the servers were restored. Hi, my name's Brad, and I'm an ESO addict.

I kind of agree. I come from a TES background, not from an MMO background (this is my first and so far only MMO). I played the hell out of Skyrim to the point that I downloaded a ton of mods that added new content because I had run out of things to do that weren't the same old radiant quests over and over. I haven't really touched Skyrim since ESO came out though, except that a couple of weeks ago I got nostalgic for some of the cities I loved in it (specifically Solitude and Markarth), so I decided to make a new character and go visit them. I couldn't get into it like I used to. I did still enjoy wandering around those cities, but it just wasn't nearly as entertaining for me anymore as playing ESO is.

I played too much Skyrim to go back to it, every game gets boring over time. What really attracted me to this game was the PvP initially, but I got tired of having to keep up with the exploit of the week to stay competitive. Most of the guild members I had the first year of playing have quit, and that seems to be a frequent theme amongst the 4 and 5 star posters (the guys who have been here a while).

To the point of the original thread topic, I'm not surprised the game has fallen so far in price so quickly. The PvE gets boring and tedious really quickly, and there's too much disparity in skill levels in the PvP (whether it be actual skill or CPs I don't want to argue in this thread). PC prices fell very quickly after the initial release, it makes sense the console prices would fall quickly as well. This game is mostly a single player game where other people happen to be around (I call it Skyrim with strangers), there isn't a mechanism for friends who have characters at different levels to scale to each other and play the same content. Cyrodiil is the only place where that happens. Supposedly Orsinium will have the "battle scaling," but two years after the initial launch might be a little late for the devs to realize that people just might want to play a game with someone they know. Add to that the complaints from the console crowd about no text chat (which is unimaginable to me), and I can see this being just a "good enough" game until some of the new heavy hitters come out this November.

    Pretty much this.

Ironically the #1 competitor for ESO will be Fallout 4. Either way ZeniMax will make a haul.
