Is it worth paying to get the psijic ambrosia fragments?

I have spent around 500 k to get 5 of the fragments, would need to spend pretty much all of the gold I have left to get the last 2. I only have one character that can do crafting writs so I highly doubt I'll be getting the fragments myself! I thought making psijic would be a fine way to make the money back, for some reason I thought you could make 5 with one set of ingredients not 4, why is perfect roe so expensive and the xp potions are so cheap!?

I feel I should just buy the potions on the guild traders for my alts and try and sell all my pages back to make my money back, or is there something I'm missing here?

You're going to have a difficult time getting your money back. The price on the frags has dropped dramatically. I've had one in a guild store for a week that hasn't sold at 30k. They used to be 60-70k.

Why are raw materials often more expensive than than the finished product?

Basically all economies in MMORPGS are driven by people who have little maths ability/no idea about WHY an item is expensive. Add to that the zero patience of the average 12 year old and you have a economic nightmare.


Kids want it NOW and will pay whatever they have, who cares about what they want the moment they get it.
Kids are incapable of factoring in the cost of what it takes to actually produce something. They see someone selling the drugs for 5k a pop, think "hey you can make 4 lines per roe" , "hmmm 4 x 5 = 20k".


Once you understand this you can make a killing on the various auctions (give me a single auction house and I will be able to turn profits for millions)


In your specific case I don't know if you are on a console or PC , but whatever, each part should be around 30k max.

You will never make a profit on the drugs themselves, that bird has flown. I assume there will be a price increase when IC releases, but not by much, after all people only need to get 850k exp to go from VR14 now to VR16.


NB when the recipe came out, it cost me around a million to get it completed, then I got my costs back 10 fold. I wouldn't pay more than 150k for the entire recipe now.

Yeah, I play on ps4 in the EU server. All of the fragments are around 130k to150k I found one for 30k and one for 70k but can't find the others cheap lol. I just had the idea of setting up a little business for my guild to get some cheap xp potions but It seems like I'll take a massive personal loss for their gain. Maybe I should sell my 5 fragments for 100k each so that anybody that's as silly as me might think it's a good idea to buy them that price lol

I was thinking of buying then. Ut then I realised the amount of time it would take to get perfect roe (unless I bought it for stupid prices) I would probably be better off questing/gliding without out it for a bit more time.

I have the one piece. If get more, great. Sure I will over the course of the game.

Think I just wanted to spend my money on something. Have all the tempers I need, know every Racial style and have bought nirhoned stuff I need. So my money is just burning a whole in my pocket.

Perfect roe is not hard to find.

Occasionally I head to Glenumbra to try to get the last blue fish I need there.

In an hour of fishing I got 4 perfect roe.

It just involves sitting and pressing E when the float moves or the signal is given (if you use an addon). If you are somewhere quiet you can hear the fish biting and just press the key twice (once to bring it in, once to recast)

Do what I do and read a book when you fish.

I have one character that has only cleaned 2 fish EVER....he got 1 perfect roe out of those 2.

I have another character(my main) that has cleaned over 1000 fish since his last perfect roe.

The RNG is pretty wild for perfect roe. Add to that the fact that psijic pots are super cheap already and I'd say that you're better off just buying the pots if/when you want them. As far as the fragments that you've already bought go, I'd eat the loss and just get what I could for them. I've had a fragment up for sale for about 2 weeks now for 30k and it still hasn't sold.

Yea that RNG on perfect roe is way to low. I've personally been fishing 100's of fish and haven't come across 1 roe. I don't know of very many people willing to dedicate the time to farm that. Plus that and the ambrosia only last like what 30mins? I think it'd be more fair if they buffed the drop rate on roe and maybe even give fishing a skill line to make it worth while.

Who knows maybe you'll get a fragment from the provisioning daily. if it's not the one you need maybe you can trade it for the one you don't have. Good luck on getting the rest of the fragments.

Ouch... You're on console?

On PC, I did buy the last fragment I needed for 30K. There are some people here and there trying to sell their fragment for 45K, but I doubt this is working.

What I did was that I created a lot of new characters, leveled them to VR1, 50 provisionning and the required skills to get rank VI writs. Took me few weeks (average 15 hours per character, mostly solo, without any exp pot), but got at least one part per character. They keep bringing new parts too from time to time, which I can sell for 25 or 30k.

This is probably easier to do on PC than it would on console, as there a probably a lot of people grinding already, but it is one way to achieve it.

Well, if you work on the rough rough basis that:

1 x Perfect Roe - 16k
4 x Frost - 1.5k
4 x Bervez - 1.5k

That's 19k to make 4 x Ambrosia

I can buy them at 4500 on PCEU.

the only way to make money is to actually catch the Roe' and I just really can not be assed to do that..lol There are much quicker and more interesting ways to make more money
