How rare are motifs and what do they usually sell for?

do I need to add a description? I have been finding one every day lately and I am curious as to how much they go for on the market for when I get more that are useless to me. might as well try to sell for a low price but I don't want to be suckered at the same time.

Depends... On PC NA the blue motifs are running 200-600. On Console they run a LOT higher

I have no idea about prices on console as the market may be different.
On PC, blue motifs currently go for 200-300 range, and purple books for between something like 17k and 22k depending on which motif (daedric and ancient elf are a bit more rare and popular than barbaric and primal).

Purple 8k to 100k depends on how bad someone needs one dwemer motif to complete their set. : )

Gold = Imperial only. 5k to 100k

These are from my observations in many guild stores over many hours.

Hope it helps. I can say prices are down from about 1 month ago.

The average prices I see on EU PS4:
blue 1500k up
dwemer 8k up
barbaric 40k up
ancient elf 45k up
daedric 60k up
imperial 100k up

Some guilds do sell them lower & some sell them higher.

As for rarity, its all RNG. I have found 3 purples in 1 day or nothing for a week, not even a blue.

I saw blues typically going for 2-4 thousand on PS4. Don't remember what purples were selling for. Bare minimum, I wouldn't go for less than 1,500 on a blue.

Console prices have actually come down significantly. You can still sell a blue motif for 2k every now and again but 1k is becoming more and more common.

The materials market has bottomed out already. Motifs will too.

Xbox NA prices are plummeting for the blue motifs. I was selling them for 3k 4 weeks ago. Now they are going for 1-2k with 1.5k being normal. Then again I sold 3 perfect roe for 40k each when it first dropped and now I can't move my ones for 12k.

I sell my extra blue motifs for 900g each. I found and used the Gold Imperial motif, so I'm guessing I'll never see that one again!

Blue motifs → 250~500, but you never pay more than 400g.

Barbaric and Primal Motifs → 12~15k, you never pay more than 15k.

Ancient elf Motif → 17~25k, easy to find for 22k'ish, but you might have to pay 25k sometimes.

Daedric Motif → Usually 25k+, but people are being silly if they charge more than 35k.

Imperial Motif → 40~55k, some people try selling for 80, or 90k, but that's being desperate for cash. (sometimes people buy tho', as it is a rare item and they liek owning lots of rare stuff. Go figure)

Dwemer motifs are different, weapons are 6k'ish, and armor pieces go around 4~5k each, except helmet and chest wich for some reason are harder to come by and can reach 10k rather easily.
The golden full Dwemer Motif tho', is more tought of as a Trophy Item and is not usually sold for use, and never for less than 200k

#Edit.: At least that's the norm in PC NA server, unless your trade guild is full of rip offs, wich most are, soooo yea. Sucks to be you in that case ^.^

Prices have been dropping lately o n PS EU. Some stores still sell them high, but my guilds have been averaging much lower 750 - 1500 for a blue

Me too! And I really only used it for the completion/achievement cause I bought the Imperial Ed. on PS4.

That's an issue that has plagued MMOs with any kind of trader/auction house system in place. Everyone wants to sell their stuff quickly and more so than the other guy/gal who is selling the same item(s). So, the obvious and easiest way to do this is to undercut said guy/gal. This leads to a waterfall trickling effect, leading to more and more undercutting, ultimately causing high value items to be less valuable.

Only way I've been able to get around this in other MMOs is buying all the same items I'm trying to sell that are being grossly undersold, then relisting them for what they're worth. That's not so easy to do in ESO.

If everyone just sold their item(s) at the same price as another, everyone would have their items sold in a reasonable amount of time, without the item(s) losing their value.

I sold two Dwemer pages (Bow and Pauldrons i believe...) for 2k apiece on Xbox One NA just last week.

But the prices are definitely coming down. Between people getting fed up with prices being so high (thus leading to undercutting), and people just buying it in the Crown Store (which is perfectly understandable), I think I did well for selling them at that price.

Saw your GT and distinctly remember running into you in Bleakrock last night while starting an alt with a guild mate.

2k is really cheap and much more affordable. Good news for me since I was holding off on purchasing the motif with crowns as I plan on dropping 5k on the Glass Armor motif come IC.

I never believed the individual chapters should have ever been more than 15k, at the very least. From the start, seeing them go for 80k-100k was a bit too steep, especially early on when those gold amounts were rare.

@OmniDevil Nice to meet you. I was working on one of my Alts as well. I started an Altmer Nightblade, and I did it for no other reason than I like their armor. lmao Now, my Main (my Dunmer) could easily craft the Altmer armor, but he's happy running around in what is (IMO) the perfect mix of Daedric and Dunmeri armor. So, I started a character that I can just play with when I need a break from my Main.

Also, I saw the prices listed for individual pages of the Dwemer Motif, and i'd be lying if I said I didn't think it was absurdly high. So yeah, I probably angered quite a few players looking to become independently wealthy off of selling pages, but someone got two pages for a freaking steal. lol In fact, i think both pages sold in under an hour. heh heh heh

I'm not sure I'm entirely sold on the Glass Motif just yet. I mean, I want it for completion, but I doubt I'd ever make it to wear.

I'd probably just use it to make Chests with armor abilities people want. But I'll have to wait til IC to be sure.

@Uriel_Nocturne - From the images I've seen, a mix of Ancient Elf/Glass Armor is what I'm aiming for my overall look on my Templar. Likewise, I'm the same way with the Barbaric/Primal styles. I really dislike both and, though I have the spare crowns to simply purchase them, I think I'd rather spend them on mount upgrades for my alt, over styles I know I won't be crafting any time soon.

However, as you said, the completionist in me is telling me to go ahead and purchase them, as those two and a few more of the Dwemer chapters are all I need at this point for knowing all styles.

It's Daedric hearts that are vastly overpriced on consoles. Do people actually pay 5k and over for a single heart? Not reached the level where I can find them yet, but surely they're not too difficult to source once you're at a high enough level that they become part of the loot pool? Because prior to seeing them in the stores, everything I've read about the hearts state they're easy enough to find. If so, the hearts are aimed at lower levelled players that have more important things to be spending their money on like a horse and storage.

It's the same as the crafting metal required for the ancient elf armour. They go for 1k each. I'm level 40 and have over 30 of them by just dismantling gear, so they're not so rare that I'd even consider paying 1k for 20 of them, never mind just for 1.

Daedric Hearts are less common that Palladium. I've only ever "found" (either from urns, chests, writ boxes, etc) 10 of them, while others were given to me and I'm VR13.5 on one toon (so far). I find more dropped gear, regards to the purple motif styles, in the following order:

Primal > Barbaric > Ancient Elf > Daedric (very rarely do I find Daedric style armor and that's mostly from quest rewards, which seem to have a really low chance at providing a heart when deconstructing, even with maxed Bsmithing and all passives filled)

When it comes to the style mats, themselves:

Argentum > Copper > Palladium > Dwemer Scrap (which turn into one frame) > Daedric Hearts

This is from my personal experience since Console Day 1 Launch.

Once I saw a guild selling rubbish for around 3 K and expensive items for millions I was like HELL NO the merchants in-game sell this stuff for 15 gold not 15K

The issue why Daedra Hearts are so expensive on Console has everything to do with rarity in the Loot pool.

From my own experience, I rarely ever get them in loot, even when on Daedra-heavy quests. Palladium on the other hand, I find most everywhere. I get it in loot, I get it from dismantling weapons, etc. I've been playing solidly every day since the Console launch, and before I started purchasing them, I had found/received a total of six (6) Daedra Hearts. Palladium I have 352 of in my bank. I don't even have the Ancient Elf Motif, but I have a metric butt-load of Palladium for when I do eventually get it.

I now have 54 Daedra Hearts in my bank. I bought 2 stacks of 20 Hearts at 18k/stack, and some individual Hearts at about 1k/Heart. I've received a couple from my Miner Hireling, and only one or two Hearts from dismantling.

But that's the reason Daedra Hearts are so expensive. They're just that rare to come across.

From my experience, I would reorganize your list in this order (from most rare to least rare):

Daedra Heart > Copper > Argentum > Dwemer Scrap (to refine into one Dwemer Frame) > Palladium

(Seriously; I find Dwemer Scrap [and loads of it] in every Dwemer Ruin I go in to, and it freaking rains Palladium in Tamriel apparently. Daedra Hearts and Copper? It's a happy day when I find 1-2 of either.)

Imperial seems to go for a lot more than the rest.I find tons of motifs everywhere.When I am looking through guild stores,its always the Imperial that commands up to 2000g.

I sell my blue motifs for 50, I am helping my alliance mates instead of trying to make money. But i will never sell something to an Altmer!
