Crit % vs Weapon Damage

Can someone please show me in numbers how having 2,600 weapon damage and 55% crit, with 80% crit damage is more DPS then having 2,200 weapon damage, 85% crit, with 95% crit damage?

Can't show you numbers, but the second scenario is much more dps.
30% more crit AND 15% more crit damage, outdpses 400 weapon damage BY FAR.
So sick what Nightblade are capable to reach, sick sick sick

Thanks Drac, I tend to agree. As soon as I upgrade my vet 2 armor to vet 14 and make my daggers yellow (currently I'm just shy of Vet 12 with 120+ CPs), I'll have the second scenario stats. Pretty close to it now tho, as I have the crit damage and 82% crit running about 2k weapon damage buffed.

Getting that extra 400 weapon damage would involve a lot of sacrifice. I keep hearing folks say to stop at 60% crit... but as a dual wield NB, I don't see the benefit.

    82% crit O.o unbelieveable.
If you want to do pve, more crit chance can never hurt. If I had so much crit damage and crit chance, I would make Dragonstar Arena explode :D

I'm not sure for pvp though.PvP is all about right timed burst, DPS is non existing in pvp. Having so much crit chance and damage could come handy for this purpose.

And don't forget that critical hits provide additional bonuses such as healing and breaking armour with champion point bonuses.

Indeed. You'll be using Vigor alot as a stamina guy. Weapon Crit also affects it and makes Vigor extremely strong.
No Magicka build can reach the Nightblades crit value. Vigor heals a lot with this crit chance

It's a needed thing and the only thing preventing Nightblades from being the absolute Overlords in pvp. :)

So I'm not looking at numbers near as high as the OP but I was messing around with Mundas stones to try to get more damage. I switched from warrior to thief. Went from 2054 wd with 31.6 crit and 1941 wd with 42 crit to 1828 with 39 and 1715 with 48 respectively. Is that much loss in weapon damage worth so little crit chance? I'm not sure of the formulas.

Us folks on console don't have the luxury of addons and transparency. To the other poster, as best I can tell, between 50-70% crit you should focus on weapon damage. Under 50% crit get to 50% crit. Beyond 70% crit, keep weapon damage up as high as possible but adding more crit beyond 80% is a DPS boost... Provided you have crit damage over 80%.

Hey, I run a vr14 Khajiit NB on pve and tried a lot of configurations, A LOT (bought or got every weapon power set piece around to combine), and by my experience, as someone said it above, after 50% crit you should focus on weapon power and smart allocation of CPs.

The only numbers I can show you are on my YouTube channel, Crashoveride2008 is my user. I have a lot of pledge runs as a melee dps, and I show my whole build and my numbers, and I get over 20k dps on short boss fights pretty easy.

But long story short, raising your crit above 60% is a waste of dps. You WILL get the best values with around 3k weapon damage (unbuffed) and 55% ish crit. And that is wearing 2 pieces of heavy

And I forgot, always use The Shadow Mundus, that is where your crit won't matter against weapon damage.

Just ran numbers for DW dps using two sword vs using 2 daggers. Provided your weapon damage is equal for both, and not counting weapon enchants, having 90% crit damage and 82% crit absolutely does more damage than having 60% crit with two swords. However, if your weapon damage drops by even 166, the swords win out.

The issue with the test is you're extrapolating 100 mythical swings. In reality, with 60% crit, you're more likely to not get your 60 crits or get all crits... I like my odds at 82% crit more.
