Why do melee gap-closing abilities root you if

they already casted it, and you're supposed to be granted immunity?

For example this guy was Critical Rush spamming me and every time he would connect, he would make me stop for half a second or so.

Another example would be the NB's Teleport Strike, it does the same thing...

Intentional?

It was added some time ago, don't recall why.

Latency issues i believe. Same reason why WoW back in the day added the movement increase shortly after useing Shadow Step. (Works like teleport strike but places you behind opponent.)

For NB's Ambush it's intended. In the skill description it says that the target is rooted if it's an enemy player. (NPCs get stunned).
As root counts as soft cc you won't get immunity when people cast it multiple times.

I know what you mean, it's annoying as hell.

Basically in larger battles when multiple players use gap closer on you, it's impossible to do fuckall. You're paralysed.

Gap closers also acts like a very brief interrupt + root(not sure if indented). So this has nothing do to with cc or the secondary effect of the actual skill, since it occurs regardless of having used break free.

So when many players do it, or gap close you, while performance is a bit meh, you're stuck in one place totally helpless while sorta jiggling back and forth, unable to use skills, action abilities or move forward. It's very infuriating.

When charging and you get stuck to the ground look in crown store view a costume (put one on DONT BUY) and spin your toon then quickly roll out and you'll be unrooted.

In my experience on PS4 if there's a decent amount of stuff happening on the screen the latency just messes everything up. Your skills will sometimes get a small delay, CCs application and breaking suffer weird delays. You can be dead and one of skills will still go off. It's especially apparent if you're getting ganged up on and multiple CCs hit you at once. The server can't seem to deal with too many effects happening to on player too quickly. Sometimes you'll break and a CC will instantly apply again. Sometimes you just get frozen. And some effects are just broken. The NB fear is completely hit or miss if it will let you break it. As a DK I use fossilze and I could literally lock a person in place till I ran out of magicka because you can apply it again as soon as it's broken. And apparently the fossilze bug has been known about for ages. Hence why I run around with a couple of friends usually and just seek out other small groups to fight. Less lag issues that way.
