Ok can you guys help me understand and get some clarification on this.

Do detect pots detect you while using Dark Cloak and if so does anything counter act the detect pot?

I thought in the next update detect pots will no longer effect dark cloak. only way to counter is with an aoe attack.

    Hey Wraith.

There's already a thread on this exact issue on the PTS forums.

    May be worth checking there.

Well I just read that on the patch notes...

Single-target abilities cast by those that have an active detection potion will no longer miss player characters who are Shadow Cloaked. If you can see them, you can hit them!

So that tells me that detect pots see through Dark Cloak and if so whats the point of having it? Gonna make escaping hard to do now.

Im hoping my initial feelings of "this is going to ruin the skill" are misplaced. It allows me to escape so many times while now if someone runs a detect pot I might as well spit into the wind for all the good it will do me. That is how I feel right now...Im hoping that my mind is over reacting and in reality it wont be that bad

@wraithguknub18_ESO you are aware that detection pots can see through cloak on live servers, aren't you? The only change is that you had to use one AoE attack after you found the cloaker (and hit him) before you were able to use single target skills. The current PTS iteration changes only that.

Yes I am aware of that however I was hoping it wouldnt be like that. Personally I dont understand why it is. Im sure someone who doesnt have the ability will whine about "why can you but we cant" thing...to that I say you dont hear me whining about sorc shields (okay maybe a little in TS) or DK flapping their wings I like my NB I like being able to not be seen it goes into my play style.

But like everything else it is what it is and If it goes live I will simply overcome and adapt or play a different class.

I apologize if I came across a bit "whinny" but I really love being able to get away with cloak...

Dark cloak isn't going to be successful just by pressing it when stealth counters are in play. It's more complicated than that. You have to build to counter the counter. That means stealth detection reduction, foot speed and stealth speed. You may also wish to fear/cc before trying to stealth away for added distance.

The counter: Time, distance, and Dark Cloaking again.

The benefit: Not everyone is going to be using Detect Pots all the time.
