Switching Roles

I'm playing a v5 dk mage but i would like to try tanking. Will it matter if my race is high elf? I was going to make another dk just to tank with but i don't have anybody to play with so leveling new characters is becoming boring.
All class skill lines are 50 and swoard and shield is46. Heay armor is at 50.
So what i'm asking is would a high elf tank work for end game content or would i be better off re rolling an imperial?

As it is now you can Tank as any race, now will some have it easier? yes they will, but as it is on live right now tanking is easy, I even stopped using heavy armor and done it with medium armor while dual wielding. Disregard that for SO and HM AA/HEL RA. But I did do that in normal AA and HEL RA. Though if you really want to min max and tank end game content after 2.1 I would suggest re rolling to a tankier race. Redguards or Nords would be a good choice imo.

You can tank with any race, but an Imperial will be more effective though.

It's not a huge deal, and I wouldn't reroll just for that imo. Especially with the upcoming race change, but then you gotta decide wether you want to pay for it or not.

If you don't mind rerolling, it's always nice to have multiple toons.

Seriously thinking about trying it out on this guy and seeing if i can do the role(i'm not very good) before i start another toon.
I've started leveling a tepmlar healer so tanking is the only role i haven't tried so far.

What is a good attribute spread? Would 18k health and the rest in stamina be good?
