The Dam Busters commodore 64 :p

See kiddies gather around ... back in my day ( even thought i was born in the 80s) we had this thing called commodore 64 that used tapes, now you might not be aware what tape is but its a magnetic tape that is made of a thin, magnetizable coating on a long, narrow strip of plastic film, now you would take this tape and place in a tape player rewind the tape RESET COUNTER ( very important ) Type Load and press play on tape.2018976_150209133537_016.JPG

AAAAaaaaaaaa anybody besides me remembers those times? commodore 64 and Amiga !!!?

I'd be curious to breakdown the 18-29 range a bit and see how big the college crowd is. Also starting at 18 eliminates the high school and younger crowd, which may be coming in more heavily now with console launch.

Yeah, even on PC I know there are a lot of under 18 players. The lack of a mount is usually the tip for me. They see a beautiful wood elf and they ask her to group - she accepts. When the delve is done she whistles for her mount and waits for them to mount up, too. There's a few awkward moments as they just stand there.

Is it wrong of me to find humor in that moment?

Oh, my first computer game was pong/table tennis on ATARI in 1976. We couldn't believe how fun it was.

I'm technically 29, but with my 30th birthday just around the corner, the thought of being lumped in with kids who almost certainly have not known the pain of losing game progress due to a dusty cartridge was almost offensive.

Gaming systems I've owned over the years: NES, Sega Mega Drive (BOO, N64! SEGA FOREVER!), PS1, and (of course) several PCs.

EDIT: Oh, and first game was Super Mario Bros (typical) at age five. Big favourites included Galaga, Bomber Man (still get the music stuck in my head to this day), Joust, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Contra, all the Crash Bandicoot games, Tomb Raider, Silent Hill (which I played for the first time at age eleven -- my parents were completely oblivious, and probably would not have thought that their daughter would have been into survival horror games anyway... ah, the joys of growing up before the age of the Helicopter Parent), that bizarre X-Files game that had SIX DISCS to keep track of, Legacy of Kain, Age of Empires I and II, Starcraft, Warcraft... and so on.

35, I was never allowed a console as a kid but played on mates' NES/master system/atari/commodore64 etc. 1st computer was an amstrad pcw9512 bought as the family computer when I was 6, then a 486 sx25 that I remember my dad upgrading to a dx2 50. I played many games including lemmings, populous, elite, gods, prince of persia, duke nukem, commander keen, wolfensten3d, the dooms and quakes etc. I occasionally played on my little bros ps2 and gameboy (of course he was allowed consoles).

My online gaming started with unreal tournament and quake 3 arena, then CS. More recently cod 4 + 6, BFBC2, BF3 and BF4. Mostly been into shooters but I've also enjoyed all the pokemons, FFIX, skyrim and now ESO (my 1st mmo and the game I have now put the most time into, 80+ days /played on my main).

I read through almost this entire thread before I noticed it was necro'd from August of 2015.

    Might as well join in...

    52
    PC NA

    First comp TI 99/4A

Brother used to rent an Atari 2600 and some cartridges.

Moved on to the Radio Shack Color Computer where I learned Assembly Language. I got a new fangled "hard drive" for it, the grinding motor sound was so loud I built a particle board box to put it in and sat it on the floor behind my desk, it had the unbelievable storage capacity of 20 MB, what will we do with so much storage space?!

Did some software development on the Atari ST

Then tried out this off the shelf PC that had this new Windows 3.1 I had been hearing about.

The first game that got me hooked was dungeon master on the Amiga 2000. Remember staying up into the wee hours mapping the dungeons on graph paper.

I had the Atari ST version of this, loved it! Yep, graph paper maps and wee hours, it was my first game addiction.
