Simple Suggestion - PVE IC Campaign

Kharsis26
Kharsis26
After playing IC on the PTS both with a group and solo, I have a suggestion.

How about an IC PVE Campaign? My idea for this campaign is there will be NO Tel Var stone drops...none....ZERO...NADA...not from bosses not from mobs nothing. If you want Tel Var stones you MUST still play the currently planed PVP IC Campaigns.

What you can do is the questing, gain experience and earn crafting materials at the same rate. Less reward for less risk. It would be even better if you have cross faction support the way Craglorn should've when released. You've already mentioned you've been working it so that would be a welcomed although unnecessary option.

This takes NOTHING away from the PVP community and just ensures more players will purchase the DLC. More money for the game means better future content.

You've already made IC, adding this rule set would make sure every one sees it and it's not as difficult change as say, getting rid of the VR levels. And it would make the obvious discrepancy in Champions Points between those that play 30+ hours a week and those that are lucky to get 8 a week in not as painful.

Anyway, it's just a thought. See you in the sewers!

Won't happen. It would be way too much work on ZOS's end for pretty much no benefit.

Also, ZOS has specifically stated that if you want to play IC, you need to man up and do some PVP.

FYI the content is ALREADY CREATED.....it's a minor modification to existing content.

You guys are going to have content coming soon and you can still do the new dungeons without worrying about PvP ruining your immersion. Let the PvPers bask in the sun for once.

    No.

We really need to stop this whole PvP vs PvE players thing that I have seen growing every more prevalent on the forums lately. The people this would appeal to won't be going into to PvP anyway and without the Tel Var stone drops they aren't even getting a leg up, just a chance to experience the content at a pace they prefer. How would this be objectionable to people?

I like the idea OP, being one who won't be purchasing the IC DLC something like this would convince me otherwise. It's not about being a "man" or any other sort of false bravado it is simply down to the fact that when I PvP I just focus on that (though not often as my ISP in conjunction with terribad server performance usually means I just die without any real ability to fight back) and when I PvE I like to relax and just dig into the story.

That said it'll never happen, ZOS wants PvErs to play pinata for the hardcore PvPers. They deserve new content for sure, but so does everyone else.

Please understand, my suggestions has ZERO effect on the currently planned PVP content. It's simply an additional rule set of which they've already stated there would be multiple ones anyway.

This is a PVP DLC and I'm on board with that.
  • Kharsis26
    Kharsis26
Also, if you read the original post, I believe the Alliance agnostic rule set should have been applied to Craglorn as well. Would have made it easy to make a PVP version rather that 3 separate versions. That was my point in the original post.

At the end of the day, the more people that buy the DLC the better for the game and future content. It's really that simple.

While I don't feel IC should have a PVE campaign, I DO feel that the mobs in the two dungeons should drop both Tel Var stones and/or weapon/armor loot scaled to v15/16 for deconstruction. Oh they also need to raise mats % from decon up from what it currently is for those weapons.

I think if the did that, most of the arguments from the PVE side would go away.
Far too many characters to list any more.

Well I don't think you are really in position to make that call but thanks.

How about I go one better though, what if there was another Mega-server that was complete PVP? Not AvAvA but you could fight anyone anywhere. Seems like that would have been a great design choice right from the start. If I were a hardcore PVPer instead of just a part timer, that's what I would be pushing for.

Separate topic though. Welcome any other thoughts on the PVE IC campaign suggested in the original post. Completely independent of the currently planned PVP IC campaigns.

I was going to say that it wouldn't work, that it misses the point, yadda-yadda, but removing TV stones completely from the situation has given me cause to reconsider, and it might be plausible.

What I would be interested to know is what can you still do without TV stones?

For example - @snowmanflvb14_ESO what crafting rewards would you still be able to get if you can't buy any of the mats that you can only get with TV stones?

Did you just say work when referring to a game? If PVP is work to you, you're doing it wrong.

Crafting drops would work the same as they do in the PVE dungeons, nothing extra.

The entire argument that PVErs are making is that they dont want to pvp to get the new gear or the new materials etc etc. This idea, while appealing (to others, not me), destroys the PVErs entire argument..... They want to get stones for the new stuff but dont want to participate in pvp......... Just some food for thought there.

I dont think they realize that you can still get amazing sets from the two dungeons WITHOUT even touching pvp........ fast travel right to them or travel to player inside waiting for you. That is why when you leave one of the new dungeons you go back to the pve zone you were last located in.

If collecting Tel Var stones is what they want but they dont want to do pvp, then they get to spend gold on those items located on kiosk. They can still farm the new dungeons and sell those gear sets to people who dont have the content which will net them some nice gold and then they can turn around and buy the things they didnt want to pvp to get.

I fail to see why so many people who are complaining about being "forced" to pvp cant see this concept........

Now instead of creating an entire zone dedicated to pve from our pvp content, just make the new dungeons drop tel var stones but ONLY from bosses. Max could be 400 per boss so thats 100 per player. If there are 4 bosses in a dungeon all players who completed it just got 400 stones. Rinse Repeat. The only downside is they get NO modifier. NONE! ZERO! If you want a modifier for collecting stones faster then pvp is your only option.

    Just my two cents

Once they add the mechanics for alliances to lock out enemy alliances it will be very different and a much safer zone in side where PVE can actually be accomplished. Tho you will still have to watch you back but teh enemy zerg wot be there. But you also have to except that your alliance will be locked out at times aswell.

This touches on the core conceptual issue I have with the entire DLC though. Do PvPers actually want a large PvE zone masked as PvP endgame content ? I know I could do without...

This is the capital cities of Warhammer Online all over again, as I predicted unfortunately.

A PvE campaign has been needed for a long time. Crafting and questing in IC would be much more enjoyable without the enemy players.

This is possible but would be highly detrimental to a PvP IC campaign. Anyone who wants resources will only go to the PvE campaign. That is PvP and PvE players alike. The PvP campaign would be empty.

In the PTS yes. You can travel to them from any wayshrine with out discovering them in IC. They appear on your map blacked out. You should be able to travel to a group member also but that is bugged right now in PTS. If this is how it will work on live I'm not sure.

That might be a little difficult on the PvE players, then. (I'm more of a hybrid, myself, so I have no problem enjoying both.)

Except there are no Tel Var stones in the PVE campaign. That would guarantee people would still populate the PVP campaign.

I think this is pretty accurate. Making a PvE only IC doesn't make a lot of sense. That said, locking everything behind a gate could potentially fracture the playerbase in another way.

@OGLezard I think you missed the point in the OP. They are proposing a PvE version of IC with no TV stones, so your counter-argument doesn't apply to this suggestion.

I don't think so, but as long as someone in the group has discovered them (it doesn't have to be you), then you're OK, as you can port straight to that player. Then you'll have them discovered as well and can do the same thing for other players.
