StamTemplar tips on staying alive

LotusBladedancer
Any advice on other StamTemplars on how to stay alive during fights?

*Seems DK's have the Spiked armour+Morphs to mitigate damage and the amazing Green dragon blood to heal - even for a Stamina DK
*Sorcs seem to take little damage due to their shield mitigation of damage
*NB's can just dissapear

I know I have Sun shield, but seems to mitigate little damage and the heals we have are made for Magica builds (scale off magica)?

So I am relying on Rally and have to squeeze impenetrable onto my bar as otherwise I have no damage mitigation, I did try a few of the heal skills but they cost too much and as a Stamina user they seemed to do little healing.

How do other Stam Templars deal with having little or no damage mitigation?

Well, Repentance (morph of Restoring Aura) is an option for Stamplars, as the morph removes any cost. However, it does require a few dead things to be laying around.

Other than that, Rally is still probably your best option. Unless, of course, you've managed to unlock Vigor from the Assault tree.

Be vampire and use Mist form+Dodge roll.
If you want an easy win, just reroll a Wood Elf NB. ;)

ive been running sword and shield and 2h. 7/7 medium.

keep buffed with elude, rally, and defensive stance and Evil hunter. total dark on casters, ransack and jabs for dps. use shield assault instead of invasion. shield soaks up half your average hit. binding jav or blazing spear as a ranged cc. also purifying ritual to remove dots and siege damage.

    and ofc dodge occasionally.

put some cp into things like medium armor, elemental defender and spell shield. run reinforced medium gear with (at the moment) 1 ot 2 nitnhoned.

seems to be working out well enough. dont really like shields. 6 second boneshield, weak harness magicka or 6 second weak blazing shield... lame. i find best defense is as above and staying on the front foot with a strong offence.

i have plenty of vets and enjoy stamplar very much. looking forward to dropping 2h for dual wield once it gets brutality and i have vigor.

    good luck man!

I'm fairly certain you were mistaken when you said you had tried all of the healing skills, mainly because rushed ceremony is the most op healing ability.

As a stamina templar myself, just using rushed ceremony once heals more than 50% of my health, i also personally think its better than dragon's blood.

And if you didn't know, rushed ceremony is the first skill in restoring light, it is all you will ever need, nothing else.

Pure stam builds can not rely on nuke heals. You need to sustain and use a combination of Rally, Repentance, Channeling Ritual, Purifying Ritual, Blazing Shield, Vampire Mist/Bats, and Defensive Stance. DO NOT rely on your shield for dmg mitigation.

I see too many stamina templars going for some sort of burst NB build with Rushed ceremony or the ultimate heal and it does not work.

EDIT: Looking at 2.1 patch notes....Honor the Dead morph might fit into a stamina build. The magicka regen is instant proc and hits for targets under 75% instead on 50%! I'll be testing it.
