Dedicated Quest Reward System Feedback

Hi folks,

I decided to separate my initial Tel Var Stone (TVS) feedback from the original thread, because that thread mainly deals with the 100% loss of TVS. My focus was more on the things you can buy with them and also with the TVS being the only quest rewards in IC.

So this is where I'd like to gon with this thread.

My original thoughts on the matter were these:
Sooo I have gathered some 3.000-odd Tel Var stones and wandered off to the Tel Var merchants and I have to say I am generally underwhelmed about what you can barter for them. Basically you have four merchants who trade in the new armour sets, two via randomized boxes and two with specific set items. Apart from maybe the Black Rose set I find the sets more or less average and their 5th bonusses are mainly pretty situational. You could argue they are meant for PVP but hey, IC is not for the PVPers alone. There should be reasonable options for PVErs also.

In my personal view I would like to trade my stones for other things. That leaves the crafting materials. Okay, for 1.500 TVS I can get enough materials for a single Vet 15 piece of equipment. And it's pretty much the only source for the crafting mats apart from deconning stuff. In absence of other choices, that would be the way to got, but for a complete Vet 16 set you'd need 105.000 TVS if my math is correct. That's where I would say something like 'You gotta be kidding me!' Farming the new dungeon sets will be much easier AND they seem to be much more versatile.

I could see three additional options on how to handle TVS: Consumables, Vanity and Alliance Points.
  • Trade your TVS for potions, soul gems, repair kits and maybe food
  • Trade a preferrably high amount of TVS for unique costumes, Xivkyn Fragments and some cool new pets
  • Trade 1 TVS for something like 10 AP or so. Just to have a 'TV sink' when all other options are off the table

Thanks for considering!

My two Tel Var!

EDIT: You could also install a Tel Var store with books from Phrastus of Elinhir. Just saying...

Now, here are some additions to the matter:

PVE has a right in IC as well and the storyline overall is pretty cool. Besides, doing quests in a cramped and claustrophobic PVP battleground is a real thrill and I say that as someone who did not like Cyrodiilic PVP before.

But the catch is that for all the quests you just get TVS again. No setting specific item, no Xivkyn Fragment, no cool pet or other vanity thing. And to add insult to damage, with the total storyline quest rewards of 2.800 TVS I can trade slightly more than a quarter of a purple item that's to my liking. Hooray!

ZOS' old weakness in terms of handing out desirable quest rewards kicks in again. Even for the heroic end quest you get TVS (albeit quite a lot). This could have been done better. The thing really becomes weird when you do daily quests. They give 80 TVS each and - sorry - I don't see much motivational potential here to make doing them repeatedly desirable.

To give the Devs maybe a hint on some other options I'd like to propose the following:

a) Do not give TVS at all for finishing quests. Give out those blue Trophy Vault items relative to the district the quest was in. Give out maybe 30 for the main quests and 5 for the daily.
OR
b) Provide a system where each player can make his own choice between TVS and Vault Trophys, including dailys.

Why Trophy Vault items? Because they are much more desirable than TVS and they are rare. Plus, the Trophy vaults contain a variety of items you can get and they are maybe also more to a PVE'rs liking, I don't know. However, I reckon with these quest rewards the dailys will just get more rewarding and thus people will feel motivated to do them.

Once again, thanks for considering and of course these are just my two Tel Var :)

I haven't actually managed to finish a quest yet, but based on your comments I would agree that they need to be more rewarding. Do they even give out gold? If not, they'd be worthless to me.
    How about this:

    Each Story quest should give:
    • High Gold (604 for a Veteran toon)
    • 500 TV Stones
    • 30 Trophy Vault items
In addition to this, the "last" story quest should also give:
    • 1 blue jewellery
    • 1 Portal Stone

    Each Daily quest should give:
    • Standard Gold (302 for a Veteran toon)
    • 100 TV Stones
    • 5 Trophy Vault items

Yes, the story quests and the dailys hand out gold. 600ish for the story quests and I think close to 300 for each daily. Like I said, I find the rewards boring to say the least and pretty uninspirational.

I like your idea with the Portal Stone for the last story quest or even a random piece from the new jewelry sets. I remind myself of doing Cadwell's Silver and Gold and also found the final 'rewards' very unepic ;)
Perhaps that's why I am riding this wave, don't know.

However, given what players can discover in those Throphy Vaults I think I'd still prefer some blue Trophy vault thingies, or - even better - have the option to chose.
