Patch - Guild (Y button - add friend) does not add friend but seems too try and invite

As the title reads, the recent update within the Guild interface doesn't actually add a friend but instead it goes into the Xbox - invite a friend as if we were setting up a party chat.

Is this as intended?
The patch notes seem to suggest this button is for adding a friend rather than another function.
