No, I'd rather not hear thirteen year olds screaming into their microphone about the level 10 hacker who killed them at vet 14.

    Thanks, though.

oh I'd have to agree, repeatedly turning off voice on the console is a pain, I have an ear bud mike plugged into my controller simply so I don't have to listen to voice activated talk via my gaming speakers

I hear domestic arguments (they obviously don't realise their mike is on), I hear 5+ people talking at the same time in zone, I hear people snoring as they fell asleep while playing or worse, people deliberately making random teenager-thinks-this-is-funny body sounds, I hear "anyone want to buy" chat in town, I hear aggressive, racist and sexist banter regularly at the WW and Vamp shrines.

Yep, auto voice chat is NOT a desirable thing ... it needs to be off by default. (although my solve of putting in a ear bud to divert voice chat is a reasonable solution to the auto-on voice chat of my PS4)
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

I'd give away console voice chat in an instant if I could get area and guild text chat.

Tell you what, you give us controller support and you can have all the text chat you need.

You have to add in mod support, key binding, and a slew of other things.

I enjoy having both , voice and text.

Honestly though for voice I very much prefer a guilds TS3 , or a public Vent or Raidcall or whatever.

Every games' built in voice chat for me has been far inferior than dedicated voice clients like TS / Vent and so on.

That's fine, to make this happen ZoS will be removing text chat from the PC version of the game.

Use team speak like everyone else, and if it comes to pc want an option for it to be off by default

Yes! Please give us an in-game option for voice chat. Using third-party programs is a hassle, especially when I have to log into 5+ different applications to communicate with other players. One minute I'm using TS3, and the next I'm forced to log into Mumble, Ventrillo, or RaidCall. This really is a nuisance, and it needs consolidation. I'm fairly certain a dev company of ZOS' caliber can pump out an ESO specific VoIP option that rivals these third-party apps. Or maybe I put too much hope in these guys..idk.

I see people are already complaining about "listening to squeakers yelling about hacks and such." I honestly don't see how text chat is any different from VoIP in this regard. You're going to have less than stellar interactions at some point regardless of the medium you use for communication. Much like chat channels, we could have corresponding VoIP channels (zone, group, tell, etc.). We can also have check boxes that allow us to configure the VoIP channels to our heart's content. Or we can simply ignore/mute users just like we would with text chat.

Please make this happen ZOS. ESO can always use more options for communication. I mean, this is an MMO, yes? Make it happen. I know you guys can do it.

In the usersettings file on PC are the following lines included since Update 6:

    SET VoiceChatAutoJoinChannels.2 "0"
    SET VoiceChatEnabled.3 "0"

I set it to 0 myself, it's on by default.
Not sure why these lines are in there.
Well, as long as it's not going to replace the text chat if they add it, I can live with the option to have voice that, although I wouldn't use it, I guess.

Consoles have voice chat because voice chat is handled by Xbox Live or Play Station servers not by Zenimax.
PC ESO servers are laggy as hell allready, we dont need extra useless feature to add to the pain.

That's not true. On consoles, ESO voice chat and console party chat are two separate features. And yes, the servers on PC can be laggy when there's blobs of players all in one place. This is already known. Adding something like voice chat in the mix isn't going to make any difference whatsoever. It's a drop in the ocean in comparison.

Also, I'm gonna have to disagree with ya here. An integrated voice chat option isn't an "extra useless feature." Having voice chat in-game streamlines the ESO experience. With an in-game voice chat option, we won't have to constantly alt-tab and fire up a myriad of different VoIP applications.

I'd like to have voice chat with PC...
...IF it was group chat, and not area chat.

Voice is useful in doing groupy stuff, but I really dislike third-party programs. But area... eh... I usually have zone chat turned off because of the content, I'd assume console players would have it worse there...

Extra features? it's obviously part of ZoS's intentions to help us become more sociable by only using Voice Chat.

If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

This. I do leave zone chat on, but I'd not want voice zone chat. That seems like a nightmare! I'm not a very big fan of using TeamSpeak 3, but it seems like the only way to reliably work with guilds.

Hopefully never. Or at least through team speak. Not sure about others but I do not want to listen to the player base while playing the game. Sole reason I'd never purchase this game for console.

I am not talking about a voice chat that lets u hear everybody around you. It would make communications a lot easier in the 4 man dungeon parties.

Team speak perhaps. Works well in another mmo I play. Mainly used in their version of pvp.

Yes Team speaks works well when you play with people you already know. But to a random group of 4, in game voice chat is still the best.
