Would You Pay to Change Your Character's Appearance?

How many of you wish you could go back and change your character's appearance? I'm not talking about changing your character's race. I mean, how many of you would gladly pay real money just to change your character's face, hair, sex, body size, etc.?

I for one would.

Just wondering how many others out there would pay for this as well.

YES. I would pay gold or crowns. I would pay early and often. I would pay and pay and PAY.

... and so would thousands of other players, I'm sure.

Why is ZoS so scared of making money? People ALWAYS ask for this feature in every MMO ever, and yet the devs always drag their feet.

I would pay good crowns for this... I'd also be likely to pay crowns for buying additional options...

I'd still hope that they would make "everyday" changes like hairstyle or makeup purchasable with gold though, the game could use more casual gold sinks (I think they ought to charge a little gold for dye use as well...)

When there are new (and GOOD!) hairstyles, makeup and facial hair options (new tats would be great too) to choose from as well, I'll pay up.

I would definitely pay crowns to change my appearance. the height slider at creation was definitely misleading. I've got wood elves taller than my Khajiit. i feel like a Khajitten.

The obvious is bag and bank space. I would love to just pay some crowns for a 10 space kick on my inventory. I'm a hoarder, i know, but until they put a therapist in Vulkhel Guard, I'm going to constantly run into space issues. (hmmm..Tamriel Therapy...20 crowns per session?)

I would likely buy this multiple times from the crown store if offered.

My character is a fat black guy I made to be awkward, but I dont feel like getting vampirism again on another character to change it.

Zenimax, you would make over 100 bucks from me alone on this update.

I would certainly pay crowns for this feature. Maybe each feature change could be around 1000 crowns or so. I think changing the sex of the character wouldn't be important. But physical details would be incredible to have.

Is character creation ever going to go live? I want to make some tweaks... My character has been in game for a long time now.

For role playing purposes, I'd like to show him age, have some battle scars, and carry a little more weight than when he first started his journey.

A barber shop that changes facial cosmetic stuff (no skin changes, just stuff like hair, tattoo, piercings, etc).
    The barber charges gold.
I would also buy an appearance change scroll from the store that can be placed in the bank.
It's been suggested in another thread, have a quest that only offers one or two appearance changes for the completing character (cannot be repeated and scrolls cannot be traded or banked).

Count me in! Personally happy with my race as a Brecon magica templar but I'd like to tweak my appearance. My character height is the main problem though, I went for a medium height and everyone's character seems so much taller than mine. My regular group often comment how small I look. So a few more inches and I'd be happier. (No "That's what she said" comments, thank you)

@makeucrazy There's already an option to increase your bag space through the crown store but you also need a mount. They offer increased inventory scrolls at 10 for 1000 crowns which runs alongside the stable upgrades upto a maximum of 60 extra inventory spaces.

I'm in for spending gold but not crowns. It should have been in game on launch. Seems to me like they want to milk every buck out came, because even to delete a character I think you have to pay to remove.

    Hi there,

We previously discussed about this feature:
This is something we're actively working on (well, the ability to change character appearance), along with race change. :) We don't have an ETA or specifics on exactly how it will be implemented, but it is something we're working on.

I don't know, I'm not sure how other mmo's have implemented this feature. Is it usually a no-charge service? If yes then no, I wouldn't want it as a paid service. If it is added as a pay-service (crowns) in ESO then I'm gonna be sad, everywhere you look it's always something that's offered only for crowns. I think the only way they could get away with making it crown-purchase only would be if there were new, unique hair/tattoo/accessories styles added.

For cosmetic changes (up to and including sex) I think there should be an in-game option to change them. It shouldn't require Crowns. Changing race or class then make people pay Crowns. They have the options of restarting or levelling up another character already. 1 character I might pay Crowns to change her appearance but I wouldn't for most.

Had the game kept to the subscription model, in-game gold would have been the way to go.
    Didn't work out that way.
Now they have to make their profit through the crown store, so all the good stuff will be costing crowns.
Best we can hope for is that they might be feeling generous and let us have "everyday" changes like hairstyle or makeup for gold and only charge crowns for facelift and such...

Honestly, only if they added a few more options to the Character Creator. As it is now, there isn't much I would change on my characters.

And before someone mocks me saying there are enough options and that I am asking for way too much, consider this:

    - Altmer and Nords do not have a pure black hair color in the Character Creator, despite there being npcs of these races with pure black hair in the game AND despite the fact that they could have black hair in previous TES games. The darkest hair color for Nords is a really dark chocolate tone, so the lack of a pure black isn't as obvious as it is with the Altmer.
    - Some face painting options are available to npcs, but not for our characters. One example is the face painting the Morkul Clan in Wrothgar wears, which is available to the Bosmer but not to the Orsimer.
    - A character can't wear make-up and have scars at the same time.
    - The only control over the color of the adornments we have is the color of the character's hair, and we have no control over the color of the make-up or the face painting.

The first two are my biggest issues with the character creator. I can live with the other two. Basically, I want to have the same options the npcs have. If they add this, I'm paying to change half of my characters' appearances.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

There are NEVER enough options. ;)

And if they were to sell more options in the crown store, I'd probably buy at least ta lot of them, just because, possibly all unless they make some really useless ones.
And I expect I am not the only one.
Seperating some layers to have scars and makeup both (I think I remember male characters having similar issues with beards and other stuff) would be very welcome.
More makeup/scar/tatoo/adornment options would also be a very good thing.
More hairstyles would be more then just a good thing, pretty vital for my taste.
More hair color options, aka cross-racial options to better build "halfblood" characters, that would also be very much appreciated.
Possibly even "structural" options - I'd love to see a "titanborn" option in the crown store allowing nords to exceed the usual maximum size slider and roleplay as distant cousin of Lyris and similar stuff...

I'm glad we agree! There is never too much customization (well, as long as it stays within the lore). Last time I suggested it, someone linked me that "customize your character's DNA" video as a joke :#

There is a lot of room for improvement in the Character Creator. I think some of the changes that should be made, like separating some sliders (beard/ornament, scars/face painting) and adding others (mouth width, eyebrow angle), should be available to new characters in the regular character creator. However, I can see new hair styles, hair colors, eyebrow styles, face/body paintings, ornaments and make-up being added as Crown Store exclusives
