I'm not paying for it or subbing for it. ZOS gave me the crowns to get it free for having sub'ed, which at the time they were under no obligation to do.

I saved them knowing content was coming...so therefore IC is completely free to me based of the subscription I paid when the game was sub only.

Can you explain that a bit for us console users?

    What did they do?

As PC players had the game longer and spent more on their subs before the game went B2P, ZeniMax went ahead and gave everyone a specified amount of Crowns to make up for the money we spent on the game.

Psychobunni did the smart thing and saved her Crowns from that and hasn't purchased any or renewed her sub since. owo

Wow.....that is a nice thing for a company to do...

    Thanks for the explanation

So a ton of PC players should be able to get it free of charge? (if they saved the crowns for DLC?)

which sensible folks did as who in their right mind thought b2p meant dlc's would be free. I on the other hand spent them on levelling riding on alts and fancy mounts but I kept my sub up so no problem.

@Hope499 As Korozenn said, when PC launched we were playing a sub only game. Whether through lack of sub or inability to make it work with Playstation/Xbox..the game switched to Buy to Play.

At that time time ZOS gave us who had been subscribing a lump sum of crowns ( x amount for the game, x amount per month subbed, x amount for sub time left) for our loyalty of the past year and the change of business plan.

We all knew content was coming, so if pc players blew that wad on costumes/mounts/pets, I* don't see that as ZOS's problem or ZOS "smacking us in the face" again. IMO, ZOS prepaid us the ability to own Imperial City so they did hold up their end of the bargain there. They gave us the ability to own IC at no additional cost. (if nothing had changed and this game was still sub, we would have to still be sub'ed to "rent" it)

I feel bad for ZOS today, and since 99.9% of the time I'm mad at them for something or other about this game, it's an odd feeling.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

It doesn't sound like you're getting a lot for $25 but that's just my opinion. Then again, I'm probably part of the minority as plenty of people shelled out how many crowns for a Frozen Horsie? :D

That being said, I won't be buying it but that's okay as there is still plenty for me to do in the game now.

lets break it down. for $25 you get small scale pvp fighting. 23 new armor sets, 2 more 4-man dungeons (normal and vet), motifs, 6 districts, a public dungeon, TV stone system, vaults, collectibles, and 500 crowns.

    seems pretty solid.
You can take away the armor sets, the vaults, TV stone system for anyone whose is not leveled the fahk out. So for "non-leets" you get ONE motif (glass is free for everyone), 6 districts (not sure how populated or sparse), 2 4-man dungeons, a PvP dungeon, and some new collectibles...where did you get the 500 Crowns from?

Again, personal opinion, but that's rather light.

The crowns come from the facth that you buy 3000 for 25 but the IC only cost 2500 crowns. Also, this will be availble in non-vet as well. why do you have to be leveld out to get that stuff you discounted? also, you have a month and a half to get to max. Regardless if t discounted, they are still available. The public dungeon i dont think is pvp. There is not much info yet, but i recall at one point ZoS stating that the public dungeon is what you need to pass through to get to the imperial city. It was suppose to be faction exclusive and then at the end I beleive after you left and about to enter city there is a cross faction area to pass through. (this portion was mentioned many eso lives ago however and I dont know if it still holds true today)

while i don't agree with your comments on it being expensive, i do respect ur opinion as im not one of these other people.

I too respect him. I won't be buying for other reasons though. Forced PVP is always something that makes me quit a game. The PVPer's now have their new game.

This is the only content pvp players have received in over a year. again there are pve dungeons!!

I feel bad for ZOS today, and since 99.9% of the time I'm mad at them for something or other about this game, it's an odd feeling.

I think the issue is with transparency from ZOS last year for many PC players. They revealed TOO much content, imo. This caused us all to have really high expectations going into this year, only to have them go to waste. The console version was delayed and took more resources and development time than they thought it would at ZOS.

But I do like how they are marketing content now. They're improving their relations with fans gradually over time by focusinf on what is coming in the next update, rather than setting unrealisticaly high wxpectations.

I don't know about other players, but I spent my Crowns on Mounts. That's just because I like them though. Everyone is different when it comes down to premium content that they buy in games like this, though.

In my opinion, you've hit the nail on the head, though. I feel really bad for ZOS right now because, no matter what they priced the IC update at, I think players would have found something to complain about. There's going to be a lot of free things coming with the update, too. No one ever said you 'have' to get IC to enjoy the game: you have hundreds of hours of content waiting for you to play through, if you don't want to get IC until a later time when it does (inevitably) get some form of a price drop or special sale.

At the same time, I feel like ZOS shot themselves in the foot multiple times with releasing the game too early to an already mixed audience, announcing too many zones at once, and delaying major content updates to focus on the console release instead. The game was highly ambitious from the get go, but ambition can only get you so far when it comes to actually new content. i hope ZeniMax can find a way to fix these issues in the coming months for players so that development can proceed more smoothly, but I would be lying if I said I didn't expect a drought in content updates to occur the minute ZeniMax started talking more about focusing on getting the console versions of the game released.

Edit: Sorry for any typos. Did this post on my iPhone is why.

Very cool, makes much more sense. I always saw PC players mentioning something about that, but never quite understood. So I guess the longer you were subbed, the more crowns they tossed at you?

That is actually really cool, never heard of a company ever re-reimbursing in any way for a sub game going B2P or F2P.

Im not paying 20 dollars for what amounts to a 10-15 dollar expansion at best. And since the Crowns come in prepackaged amounts where you have to pay 25 dollars for 3000 crowns. Sorry. Just not doing it. Theres nothing in that store that I want so being forced to buy more crowns then what would be needed for the DLC is just another reason not to do it.

Tel Var Stone System. Essentially another currency that is completely unnecessary and one that can be completely robbed from you at any moment. If this is the direction youre taking with every new expansion and new addition of stronger better gear. Youre going to find a lot of people tiring of your nonsense and moving on. No one wants to risk their hardwork to a ganker. Atleast no one that is a masochist. A better system would of been a random reward of a Tel Var Stone for PvPing in the Zone. But to take them off other players that spent possibly hours collecting them while that individual only spent a few minutes ganking in IC? Yeah. Youre in for a flaming forum come PTS.

    Im not buying this expansion.

Yeah I seen other FTP games that gave a lot more content than that. it's not bad content just not for that price.

Yes, plus there was the loyalty mount, and while I didn't agree with it.... you could even go buy time cards to pre-pay time and get the mount and crowns. In imo as well, it was pretty decent of them to do that. Even if I had gone store crazy and spent the crowns, ZOS did make the effort to cover bases.

Exactly. Im not saying the content is subpar. I just dont feel I should be paying 1/3rd of a box price for what equates to less then a normal zone.

$20 is a good deal considering the amount of content that the expansions will have. If you really want to feel ripped off, go drop $20 on one of the Destiny expansions :).
