Werewolf really worth having?

I never wanted to be a warewolf, I visited a shrine with my friend, and we fought off a giant, and someone bit me. For free, It's hard to believe that I got something that ppl fight and get scammed over, for free. I never wanted it on the first place, but now I have a week to decide. Should I take it?

With the way that it works right now, it's fun for leveling, but any other time it's great so long as you don't use it.

You can cure yourself at any time, also if your not planning to be a vamp they take the werewolf, you get a 15% stamina regen passive with any downsides.

    Current CP : 756+

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

RIP my effort to get 5x v16 characters...

This is a very common opinion: Werewolf is great if you don't actually use it.

I'd like to respectfully disagree. Werewolf is fantastic and also very effective. Please allow me to refute your claim with a 4 minute video of Werewolf in action.

    I've got to disagree.
Werewolf is crazy fun, when you're not getting insta-gibbed constantly.

I actually tried your build on my VR14 Templar. (As much as I could get anyway, I didn't do any light because I've never leveled it, and I didn't have the dungeon set, but I got as close as I could. The problem wasn't not having magicka for heals, the problem was Snipes for 16+k and getting Evil Huntered.) Honestly my semi-glass-cannon Medium Armor Stamplar build is 100 times more survivable with only Forward Momentum for heals and Spiked Bone Shield for some mitigation. With that I can usually get kill streaks of 30+ at least a couple times in a night.

The very first time I transformed in Cyrodiil, with my approximation of your build, I was dead before the pounce animation finished, and the subsequent transformations didn't get much better. In fact, most of the time I just stare at the screen amazed, not even mad, just amazed at how spectacularly hard I fail. Honestly, I was stoked when I saw your video and thought man...maybe this is the answer. After several hours of getting face-rolled over and over I just deconed all the gear I had made for it and went back to my other build.

When I get someone alone, or two people, sometimes even three, I wreck their faces. Sadly, this isn't how it usually goes down. I want to help my team, I want to go up against groups. WW may be great for dueling...I dunno, I play objectives. For that, it's utter crap.

I have had fun in Cyrodiil with Werewolf, it's fantastic when you're not up against more than two people. Any other time it's pure suicide. Even in your videos I'm not seeing a whole lot of group fights. And in the one or two group fights I saw, your people are outnumbering the enemy. Some enemies are just standing around? Most look like they have no idea what they're doing, and I don't see anyone using a bow? ...I'm not sure where you go to encounter circumstances like that.

I want to be careful with what I'm saying here, I am -not- trying to insult you, what I'm saying is that our play-styles are probably quite different and for mine Werewolf is not viable in the least. Most people are not out there 1vX'ing. Most people are not zerging (You obviously aren't either), they're out there with their buddies in moderate size groups and they deserve to have fun too.

And so I will clarify: for the PvP that I believe most people experience, Werewolf is best if you just don't use it.

For the record, I desperately want to be able to play as a WW without only pulling it out in extremely tightly controlled circumstances. I honestly think we're on the same team man, we both love the Wolves, but I can't in good faith say that the skill line is in good shape, or even viable for most folks.

I think most of us are just left scratching our heads and thinking, "Why is this so infuriating, isn't Werewolf supposed to be fun?"

I've tried both Vamp and Werewolf, and I have much preferred the Werewolf. So much fun to play as and powerful.

My experiances are the same. I am a die hard WW ever since I accidently contracted the disease right after early access if memory serves me correctly. Back then WW sucked, and even back then I was trying to make it work.

Now WW still sucks, but not as bad, and can work sometimes, but only if the planets align and the stars are in order, in general, it is almost always better to not use it, as using it in PVP for me is usually a quick death sentence, or a waste of time (due to getting less kills, and killing less frequently, than when I am not WW).

WW still needs a lot of work to be a viable ultimate, especially considering the amount of Skill points you need to invest in it, but I will stick with it and try to make it work until then.

In response to OP, just roll with it, if you don't like it, you don't have to use it and can get rid of it later when you want, and until then, you get a stam regen passive which never hurts.

Whether it's worth being one and playing in the form is debatable as above shows.

However if you're not going to be a Vampire you should be a werewolf for the 15% bonus to stamina regeneration in combat with no negatives.

I think I might go cure it. I didn't even start the quest but is there a way to get rid of lupinus?

I personally prefer werewolf than vampire for one main reason; the fire damage increase.

Me and my buddies were doing a veteran dungeon yesterday, Banished cells as it was the undaunted daily.
We had never done this veteran dungeon before and one of our DPS's was a vampire. We thought it was no big deal and we didn't really care about it until we got to the Maw of the Infernal, one of the first bosses in the dungeon.

You could tell by his name is was to do with fire and I can tell you we found is very slow and hard to do due to the fire damage that DPS was taking compared to everyone and he must have died quite a lot due to this.

The same can be for PvP if a DK uses all his fire abilities on the vampire.
Not as Technical as you may think.
You don't die for your country, you let the other bast*rd die for his.

To cure it all you do is go to the mages guild in the zone and donate 620g to have arkay cure you. The npc is prelate something.

Like others said, there is literally no downside to 15% Stam regen other than you can't be a vampire. You dont have to put a single point into it to get this bonus either. I picked it up for the Stam regen, I'm putting points into it so I can screw around with it while leveling as its quite fun, if not really effective.

Your Vampire friend needs to invest in fire resistance jewelry. It's a must have for any and every vampire. Also note that both Vamp and WW are having their respective weaknesses reduced from 40% to 25% in the upcoming patch, so it'll be even easier to make up the low resistance with enchanted jewelry.

I think Werewolf is powerful and fun, both in PvE and PvP, the problem is that it doesn't last long enough, otherwise a lot more people would be using it.
