Imperial caster character... worth keeping?

So I have an NB Vamp character that is closing in on 30 that I've done a pretty decent of stuff on; not keen on losing him. But I realized that I'd rather go caster on him, and was planning to do a full respec.

The issue: He's imperial. Not a single racial passive towards magicka.

What do you guys think? Should I just make a new character, with a more magicka friendly race, or should I be OK with an imperial NB Vamp caster?

EDIT: Plan to use resto staff with class skills mostly. Maybe some lower dungeon healing, but no plans atm to do any PvE trials or the like.

I have a VR7 Imperial mage that I do just fine with but then I started with the idea of trying to play a race that wasn't magically inclined as a mage. I use armors/jewelry that boost my magicka and when need food buffs. I use 5 light armor with two heavy for the extra armor and heavy passives. I'm having fun playing an Imperial mage, give it a try the worst that can happen is you try something else if you don't like it.

Woo! Glad to hear someone else in the same boat and enjoying it. Thanks for the advice. I'll stick with him and see how it goes!

V14 Imperial DK werewolf caster here. 5 heavy seducer, 2 light. all magicka enchants. Resto/Destro and vs any other mage type I usually wreck them. Reflective scales. Enough said lol I would get rid of resto for sword and board for my build but it has a lot of team support abilities for PvP. I rarely run out of magicka but a NB perma invis can wreck. Still revising on some changes I need to make as I prefer and miss my old 2H Sword/bow build. I couldn't 1vX like my current though so I am going to leave it as is for the most part until the expansion content/changes.

Did any of you end up taking passives in heavy? If so, which ones?

The only downer with races like Imperial and Redguard is that you really don't get use of the racial Health or Stamina return passive unless you use some kind of melee weapon on one bar. However, its still doable to use either. I think Redguard has a harder time not using a melee weapon of some kind though.

I took all the heavy armor passives except Bracing because its only good if you wear 5 pieces or more of heavy armor.

Im playing Imperial magicka DK and just doing fine in PVP, i feel no differenc to other DKs wich are Dunmers or Bretons or wathever, they may have a bit more dmg, but i have more mitigation
