Proximity Detonation is an OP skill only for Sorcerers and Nightblades

Why? Well, a Sorcerer can Bolt Escape to you with it active, whereas a Nightblade can activate it while cloaked and then stealth attack you. It's almost useless for Templars and Dragonknights.

Its going to be buffed in the next update believe it or not, the damage will increase if you hit more targets. Right now it already hits pretty hard, especially with 3.1k spell damage and 33k max magicka.

The major downside to this skill is the casting time, this usually takes way to long in a fight so you need to line of sight in order to cast it without getting interrupted.

that's true but obviously there are *easy* ways to counter that skill and apparently people choose to whine instead of playing smart.

When one skill forces you to use specific armor, enchants and traits just to avoid being one shot by cheap game mechanics and poor balance, maybe it's the skill that's the problem, not you...the combination of champion points and 3k+ spell damage doesn't help either I suppose...

But that must be the players fault right? l2p...go crazy survivability like everyone else in vet pvp or stfu blah blah blah...

Maybe balance skills, champion points and ya know the game so it doesn't force players all into one kind of play style and builds or risk getting one shot all the time? Kinda makes vet pvp pretty boring....and predictable..

Most of the players I see spamming it are Dragonknights that use Ferocious Leap or Take Flight in unison of the spell cause a giant AoE attack.

Reading through this thread, one word comes to mind for all those complaining about the massive damage - block. You can cut Prox Det's damage dramatically just by blocking. Also - useless for DKs!?!?! DO you even PvP? Dragon Leap > Prox Det is extremely powerful, and as some have already stated, can pretty much one shot players.

Seeing as how I am so squishy, sometimes even while blocking, it will only take a 2-3 more attacks to kill me (including the gap closer used).

I ain't complaining though, I kill other people when they don't suspect it/aren't ready for it. So all is fair in love and PVP.

One thing I've found is that if I can survive the initial Prox Det burst, most don't have a Plan B. They either run, or die. Either way you win.

I must have not 1 shot you yet with my proximity kamikaze templar ~ a few thousand other people must think differently. In fact, proximity deto favors templars the most.

That would be a good thing but I hardly use it in small scale fight because the cast time is too long. Proximity Detonation already is very effective to wipe bigger groups with 10-12 well timed detonations, especially when you catch them off-guard after they take a resource for example. If the damage for hitting multiple targets gets buffed this will probably stay an effective way to wipe groups after update 7.
