I agree, this is a very negative environment. I really only come on here to get an ESO fix during the week when I can play; it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Number 3 if what I'm respond to because everything else is common sense.
But anyways, don't you feel the debating is hard to do? I mean we have to walk on egg shells not to offend someone or our comments get edited or deleted. And the second part of 3. It's unfortunate that trolling is shamed upon. I know it has to be for the offensive trollers, but it also gets people in trouble who are just trying to make people laugh. If you troll someone else you get in trouble for insulting then. You troll zos or eso you get in trouble for insulting them.
(please keep in mind I'm not debating the validity of the rules, I know they are there for a reason)
Not gonna lie, if I had to judge a game off its forum, I would say ESO has the worst playerbase. Lots of Elitist on here. Can't even mention playing on console without someone from PC jumping all over you about purchasing an "inferior" machine.

My question to you then would be how do you respond to or deal with the negativity. You have four stars, so you must have had a decent amount of activity here at least.
And honestly eso isn't the worst for elitism. I'm going to bring this up in hopes that it doesn't get removed or violate any rules, but if you want to see real bad elitism, you should have seen the destiny forums prior to the release of their last dlc. In a nut shell if you weren't at the level cap you were useless. And if you never played I'll let you in on a secret... Getting to the level Cap was achieved by RNG through raids. An RNG that was completely ridiculous.

I've got one better. Bungie forums from Halo 3. SMH everywhere. There were no decent conversations, no decent players everyone was either an elitist or wanted to be. This forum truly just has a bunch of bitter souls from PC launch day that legitimatley want the game to be what it was supposed to be.
Then... the consoul shriven arrived.

Well, yes, there is a certain.... "resentment" against console over here by the old guard but frankly a lot of us feel we were abused as year long paying beta testers for... the console version.
There were some updates, bugfixes along the way for PC but then nothing really new for over half a year and not even seriously bug fixing anymore since 1.6 - Z even admitted on here that they do not have resources/manpower to continue driving on all fronts and decided to focus solely on console only instead (that was somewhere around 1.6).
Then they announced that a monthly subscription is no longer required (the real reason for this was never openly admitted... however, we all know that console players are generally not used and willing to pay a monthly extra for a single game... so, again, one main reason for all that was most likely... console - again).
ESO from now on is to be financed by releasing repainted/reskined mounts and costumes (most of which were already in the game one way or the other) by means of the Clown Store; and frankly speaking that was a really big slap into the face of their involuntary beta testers. Who payed over 150USD extra for the "privilege" to play and foremost test the game for a year - and all the benefits from that now went to console for free (as in no more monthly subscription).
Of course everyone knows that this is not the console player's fault directly - however... we can not really bite the nose off of the real culprit (Z) on here so the next best thing as target for (at least some of) our resentment is the console crowd.
Fair? Most certainly not.
But life is not fair... and Z told that lesson to PC players big time over the last year.
