General question. Not trolling and this isn't even solely in regard to this forum alone, but forums in general. What is the point in having them? I mean we all know that the Internet is full of people who are very opinionated, most of which, myself included, can be really dense at times. That being said, I don't see the point in forums. Yeah I get it. It's a place to discus things with people that have a common interest or to gather information not covered in guides or wiki, but forums are set up with so many rules (because they have to) to go their best to prevent people's feelings from getting hurt. So why is it that you come to forums? And do you get offended by other people? I just want to have a civil discussion about our thoughts on this. There's no right or wrong answer, so there is no need to call someone out for having an opinion.

Well it's a good place to express your thoughts and feelings about the game. ZOS employees do actually read the forums, so it's a good place to let them know what you think.
I like new ideas from people and helping others flesh these ideas out even if it's all hypothetical, it is still good creative problem solving practice.
I also enjoy helping other players. I don't have answers to everything, but what I do have answers for are questions that I also once had.

Like I said it's not just here. I don't want to single out eso. But yes, the negativity blows. I just find it silly I guess, that we want a place to give our opinions and receive feedback but then get our feelings hurt when somebody tells us they think we're wrong or they disagree. I'm not above this. I've fallen into the trap more times than I care to think about on both sides of it.

I mean we all know the saying about not being allowed to have opinions on the Internet, although it's a joke, it seems to be so true.

Same. But I also like to repeat stuff, add on's for PS4, so hopefully ZOS will respond with a "yeah, they're coming." Oddly enough I never spend time in gaming forums. There have been some, like WoW, Warhammer, Rift to name a few that I never went to..

1- I can access the forum easier than the game most times as of late

2- I am bored in game

3- I do like to debate and even  sometimes

4- Over the course of the last year and half now (?), I have watched most of my in game friends leave :'( for various reasons

5- I feel that a voice needs given to those who have given up on ESO and to fight against the immersion cultists!

6- I still believe ESO can be a great, lasting MMO...we might not always agree on how to get there or what will make it "great"...but we haven't given up

Number 3 if what I'm respond to because everything else is common sense.

But anyways, don't you feel the debating is hard to do? I mean we have to walk on egg shells not to offend someone or our comments get edited or deleted. And the second part of 3. It's unfortunate that trolling is shamed upon. I know it has to be for the offensive trollers, but it also gets people in trouble who are just trying to make people laugh. If you troll someone else you get in trouble for insulting then. You troll zos or eso you get in trouble for insulting them.

While this is true, it's not exclusive to eso. If you have Xbox your shamed by pc and ps4. If you have ps4,then it's pc and Xbox. Pc sits there happy as pie because they know ps4 and Xbox will never join together lol

Communicating in text only form is a bit of an art. Words have to be chosen carefully and it's difficult to have any sort of a "voice" or personality on a forum. I never post on a "hot topic" thread without previewing and rereading what I'm going to post a couple times. Even then, there's not much you can do about others' reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. You're throwing your words out into the wind here and hoping they land where you intended them to.

Not all of us PC players are like that, btw. I feel for you guys with all the communication issues, information issues and the learning curve. I try to help where I can. I agree that the "pc master race" thing can be taken too far, it's meant as a joke most times but yeh, it's gettin' kinda old and worn out. I see us as having many issues in common and if we worked together on them we might get ZOS to change some things.

Dealing with moderation isn't so much What you say as How you say it. Flailing around and cursing and insulting ZOS (or other posters) won't get you very far. A well constructed criticism with an alternative might do better. Shooting from the hip can get you in trouble, sometimes it's better to just walk away. That said, there are just some people on any forums that come across as plain 'ol angry-at-the-world types with a chip on their shoulder. You learn who they are and just pretty much ignore them (oh that guy again...meh) Also remember that a lot of them are only so brave because of Internet Anonymity and wouldn't dare do so in RL where there are consequences such as a broken nose.

Finally, try not to take things personally (I know it's hard sometimes lol) but these folks don't know you, or anyone else on here most likely. If the best they can do is a personal insult, then they obviously don't have anything actually important to say and can be dismissed. If they are derailing your thread repeatedly, use the system in place and report them.

I been at the game from the start, early access and all (PC), I really love the game, I have had my moments of doubt as well and I do see alot of the negativity, I have seen many people come and go. I complain too but when I 1st started playing I didn't really rush my levels and finally when I was so getting trashed in PvP I had to work to get to VR14 just so I could survive. I like to grind so I have no problem with Grinding or doing quests.

The game has gotten so much better from launch it is seriously like Night and Day, I new sooner or later they were gonna drop the console and people on console would force ZOS to make the game better, I mean, finally they are gonna fix Shadow Cloak, OMG I have been waiting for that about 1 year 3 months, seriously.

Some things ticket me off but I try to take it in stride, even that they are going to up the VR level to VR16, I spent alot of money on my current sets but after the Justice system dropped I have stolen way over 1.5 million in gold now and after the last ESO live went on I logged in, took out like 200K and went shopping to get enough Dreugh wax, Tempering alloys, Rosin and Kuta (for enchants) for my main Character so he can get a Legendary set once he gets to VR16. I will just pass the VR14 legendary stuff to my alt's through the bank.

I am here for the Long haul and will continue playing until, most likely, they shut the game down.

There are some threads that simply breed circular arguments, spiraling negativity and 'debate' that is about the players rather than the topic. If it is something I feel passionate about and want to add my view in the hopes of it reaching ZOS then I post my piece in that thread and then do not return.

However, there is an awful lot of the forum that is not like that. It is just about people trying to find their way through the game looking for help, looking for conversation or looking for discussion about a topic rather than the players. Those threads are why I come here, they are what I enjoy getting involved in.

So yes there is negativity but if you simply do not engage with those spreading it you can still find this a very enjoyable place to be.

Well, yes, there is a certain.... "resentment" against console over here by the old guard but frankly a lot of us feel we were abused as year long paying beta testers for... the console version.

There were some updates, bugfixes along the way for PC but then nothing really new for over half a year and not even seriously bug fixing anymore since 1.6 - Z even admitted on here that they do not have resources/manpower to continue driving on all fronts and decided to focus solely on console only instead (that was somewhere around 1.6).

Then they announced that a monthly subscription is no longer required (the real reason for this was never openly admitted... however, we all know that console players are generally not used and willing to pay a monthly extra for a single game... so, again, one main reason for all that was most likely... console - again).
ESO from now on is to be financed by releasing repainted/reskined mounts and costumes (most of which were already in the game one way or the other) by means of the Clown Store; and frankly speaking that was a really big slap into the face of their involuntary beta testers. Who payed over 150USD extra for the "privilege" to play and foremost test the game for a year - and all the benefits from that now went to console for free (as in no more monthly subscription).

Of course everyone knows that this is not the console player's fault directly - however... we can not really bite the nose off of the real culprit (Z) on here so the next best thing as target for (at least some of) our resentment is the console crowd.
    Fair? Most certainly not.
But life is not fair... and Z told that lesson to PC players big time over the last year.

Yea I will have to second this one. Any console players that are willing to take a trip down memory lane should check iut some of the oldest forum posts and see just hown different the forums really are. We put all of our Faith and time into these guys only to feel like used harlots to some degree. Still love the game, but the burn is still fresh.
