whats the point of more characters?

so i hit vr8 on xbox the other day on a dk and since the vr grind was slow i decided to make a new character (i thought i would accumulate enlightenment with another character) i just hit vr1 with my nb this is not the case however, and i was just wondering is there a point in making newer characters? as in any additional benifits? i still want to make a sorc but if there isnt ill just stop there because the templar seems pointless with the exception of healer which i dont want to be ever
... also as a follow up question is there a good reason out there i should make a templar?

King Bozo✭✭✭I have 4 vet toons one of each class. I did it so I could experience each class. I find it it helpful to have a tank, healer, and dps for group composition. While I could play those roles with one character I find certain classes better to complete those roles. I also do not get bored as each class is very different from each other. The simple answer I guess is no you don't have to make other classes. I just find the game more interesting by being able to play any class.0 -
Sinbaar✭✭✭✭Well..there is no benefit directly...you could make all the classes to understand how they work. Additionally you get more Gold, more crafting materials...but thats it. Oh, and its more effektive for Champion Points. You gain more quciker. Though you have to hit vet ranks first to earn them...hm..yeah...

✭✭✭✭I tend to RP; so when I hang out with my "usual" group of players and I'm being Mol gra Drurga Battlemage, and out with my beloved Fianna Kingsley, it's a very different experience than when I'm being Hisa Ni Caemaire (altmer sorc) and adventuring with her mostly altmer, mostly DPS companions.
I play many characters so I can experience the game from many viewpoints. It's more fun for me that way.Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.***Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis1 -
I agree with the "many viewpoints" reason. I have one of each race except nord and argonian, and have two wood elves. I have them in different classes, and get to try new builds. I also like to roleplay, even if its mostly with myself..."We, the Bosmer do hereby sign this treaty...for we are too full to eat another bite."0 -

✭✭✭For me the most important and fun thing in a CRPG is to figure out the intricacies of each role and class. The plan 8 characters 4 classes stam and magicka. The way ZOS made progression kind of ruined that plan. I have 1 NB 1 DK and 1Temp at VR 14. I am seriously starting work on my sorc. If I get it a VR 14 before their wonderful, awesome plan of adding 2 Vr level I will enjoy the wonderful experience of grinding 8 more VR levels . Yey.
