Logging Out, Even During Combat

Hey guys, reaching out for the tech savvy out there. About every hour and a half (almost exactly), the game logs me out to the login screen with no sign of an error. This happens no matter what character I am on, no matter how many times I have personally logged out, and will even happen during combat.

So far I have made the exception in my firewall, set up port forwarding, and reset my router.

Healer logging out during runs is bad news bears. Help me?

Update: Also deleted the depot folder and let the launcher rebuild it. Still logging every hour and a half.

Just a guess. Is there a parental setting that can limit game time?

Not that I have seen anywhere. It isn't -exact- every time either, just creepy close.

Hey guys, bumping this back up and derailing it a bit. Customer support still hasn't responded to my ticket for the logging out. Do you have any ideas?

Also, the vet Darkshade quest still seems to be bugged. Have any of you successfully completed it with a group that was just there for the daily? If so what did you have to do. I managed to get it to the 'escape engine room' step but couldn't get it past there.4

Firstly are you playing PC or console?

If PC then it sounds like you may have a faulty memory chip, what RAM are you running at?

If console then maybe it is router problems caused by many people using the router, but that I can only speculate.

PC. With an ungodly amount of RAM, I bought it this way, not my fault. How do I check if that is the source of the problem?

It almost sounds like the game is kicking you out for inactivity? That's the only time I've been booted to the log screen.

It is -exactly- like that. But I don't get the little notification. And it happens all the time, including during combat.

Maybe your ISP is disconnecting your internet every hour and a half.

Yes I just completed it last night on one toon, and on another toon someone else had it. After you kill the last boss do you backtrack through the dungeon? You need to.

Someone I ran it with last night said they hadnt done the quest because their previous attempt was with a daily group that had snuck past the dwemer waves, rather than defeat them.. So it bugged out. Did your group possibly do the same when you did the quest?

Wouldn't this crash the game, not log him out and send him to the character selection screen?

Google Memtest. You should be able to find instructions on how to run it.

Good theory, but I am not losing connection anywhere else (TS, Skype, etc)

Nope, we killed everything because I need the Dwemer for the achieve on that toon still. I was trying to backtrack, but it was like it didn't realize I walked through the door. Just kept telling me to walk through.

Yeah it would, it was the only thing I could think of though that would keep him logged in on TS or whatever else he is using.

Update: Reinstalled game, still have the issue.
  • Stinknugget
    I believe i have a fix.

First, Make sure your NAT is open. If not, enable UPNP on your router and restart and recheck NAT.

Second, go into your routers firewall and open the Ipv4 security settings. Set to Low

Third, go into your routers firewall and open the Ipv6 security settings. Set to custom and select only to block ident port 113.

    Save and/or restart.

Obviously, lowering security settings puts you at risk so proceed at your own risk.

Hope this works for you. Good luck.

    No dice, thanks though.

Still happening, any more ideas? I keep trying with Zeni but the customer support is ...slow... right now and doesn't seem to be able to offer any help. So recap, so far I have: Reinstalled, set up port forwarding, checked my IpvX settings, turned off addons, and updated drivers.

ive had this happen to me once, it was a quick log out to my character selection screen during play. I thought someone hacked my PS4 and logged onto my game from a different PS4 at first, but after playing it more it hasnt happend again so im assuming it was just a rare minor bug for me.

Unfortunately I don't have any solutions to offer you but I saw in your OP that you are Port Forwarding, here is a thread talking about why port forwarding isn't entirely safe for your computer.

There might be some other helpful solutions in this thread, I hope this information helps!!

    Good luck finding a fix!

Yeah, I know port forwarding is bad. I did it in the hopes that then Zeni's team would start suggesting actual fixes.

The weird part is that there is no crash report or anything, just sudden log in screen. There is one other person in my PvE guild with the same issue. So every hour our raids are dropping a tank and healer. We have gotten really good at holding before bosses so that we can crash the game and then finish the raid.

How long has this been happening?

I've noticed that since the last patch or two I've run into a similar logging out issue and I wonder if it is just a system wide bug that effects a few people. Though in my case it isn't nearly as consistent as you.

The only other things I can think of is that you have some fault piece of hardware, I would suggest checking your ram but someone has already pitched that idea.

Have you noticed any other issues perhaps in another game or program?

Since around 1.6 dropped. Though I don't know how exact that estimate is. This is the only thing I have any problem with, so for it to be this specific and not an actual crash makes me doubt that it is faulty hardware.

Did you buy the game through steam? Perhaps you can contact their customer support to see if they have any solutions? I know that's probably not super helpful but it might be worth checking out!

I did some googling and it looks like this issue became more common after 1.6, so it could very well be a really annoying bug. Hopefully if it is a bug they are working on a fix.

If I come across any further information I'll be sure to post it in this thread and tag you in it.

I would not rule out an ISP related issue. For about a month the game was unstable for me but everything else worked other than max speed downloads. I could stream and do all that, but the game was not stable. Turns out I was having Reverse Error Issues and the cable company fixed me right up.

Now I will say lately I have had more lock ups in the game but that is not a kick to the log in screen, just an outright freeze.

And how would one find out if something like this was the issue?

Call the customer support people at the cable company, they should be able to look at the graphs for your modem. The trick will be to get past the scripty responses of the front line people to get that information looked at. As they will want you to reboot your modem, your router, your PC and other typical trouble shooting steps first.

The other thing to try is make sure your playing on a wired connection to your router, this would eliminate any issues from new wireless APs in your area.

Finally, if you have a Linksys WRT54G, then get something else, those choke when there are more than two connections to it.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
