2H - Heavy Weapons Passive

Dreadbayne
I'm curious. In the 2H tree there is a passive effect that increases overall damage with greatswords by a percentage, warhammers ignore a certain percentage of armor, and greataxes(axes?) can leave a bleeding dot for 6 seconds. I've seen a lot of RPG's try to add a bleed effect to axes (makes sense right?), and in nearly all cases the community consensus feels that it's largely wasted if it has a chance to proc before the current bleed effect ends. Do we know if this proc has an in game timer to ensure it wouldn't be wasted?

I'm all for additional DoT's, I love them as a mechanic, but not if your filler attacks cause it to overlap and cancels one out. Otherwise I feel that Greatswords and Warhammers will be the only viable weapons for maximizing damage for those interested in doing so.

Thanks for reading, let me know if you have a bit more insight into this, may be interesting...

The term for the 2h axes is battleaxes.

As you'd expect, the axe passive (it's the same for 1h axes as well with the dual wield tree) is largely useless, which is why mauls and greatswords are so much more popular among 2h wielders.

Personally I've always felt that axes should have higher critical damage.

They should have included bleeding for all mobs, with variable degree of damage depending on type of mob, rather than just complete immunity.. That would have solved all the problems with dual wield abilities, passives and the axes.
