Wood Elf Templar

What are the best skills to put points into on a Templar? I'm looking for more damage than healing but still be able to keep myself and others healed when needed.

It kind of depends on your playstyle. If you're choosing Wood Elf, I'm guessing you want to be a stamina build. There are a few class skills that morph into stamina versions, namely Biting Jabs, Javelin (forget the name of the morph), and Power of the Light (Backlash morph). With any Templar stamina build, you will always want Repentance, morph of Restoring Aura.

-If you're melee range, Jabs is awesome for DPS, both single target and AoE in a single skill, and grants Major Savagery simply for using it.

-I found that Javelin works well for Bow type play. Acid Spray the mob, single target with Poison Injection, and then CC with Javelin as needed. Plus, it's just plain fun to throw a light spear into the chest of enemies. >:)

-Power of the Light is really only good for longer fights, if for anything. I find normal enemies die far too fast, so you never reach the 6 second duration. Plus, it's not a part of my normal rotations, so I find it slightly tedious to use.

-Repentance is the key to your survival and sustain, and one of the main reasons stamina Templars rock.

    Passives:

-You will want ALL the passives from the Aedric Spear line. You get increased weapon damage, increased critical strike damage, and added DPS from Burning Light.

-Dawn's Wrath passives aren't my favorite, except for the last one, which reduces costs for skills and ultimates. Mostly, I don't really use skills from that tree with my stamina Templar, so I don't see the benefit from them (ultimate regen, granting Minor Sorcery, etc). You will probably want the first one, though, to increase durations for skills, notably Nova.

-Restoring Light passives are great for a healer, but for a DPS build they aren't as relevant. Mainly, they affect skills that you won't really use, or you will use a morph that isn't covered by the passive (Repentance). Eventually, you can unlock them, but starting out, they aren't vital.

    Other Skills:

-Empowering Sweep, the better morph of the Aedric Spear ultimate, and Nova are great to unlock as soon as you can. Sweep is cheap, so you can cast it often, and Nova is your big boss battle ultimate.

-Breath of Life is your last minute heal. I didn't put it with the essentials because you already have Repentance. Plus, with a stamina build, the heals aren't going to be that strong. Still, I keep it on my back bar because a couple of them spammed is generally enough to keep me going.

-Sun Shield can be good with DW, if you go that route, namely during a Steel Tornado spam.

-I like using Sun Fire, morphed to Reflective Light, when I'm using Bow. It kind of sucks that it's magicka based, because I find it works well, even if it doesn't hit that hard.

It just occurred to me that if you aren't doing a stamina build, I spent all that time and it won't help you as much. Still, a lot of the above still remains true, just morph the magicka versions instead of stamina.

    Hope that helps!
