Rules regarding discrimination against in-game races and in-game profanity

Are we allowed to make fun of someone because of their in-game race? Like if you were RPing as an elf can you discriminate against the nords, imperials, etc.?

Also wanted to know if we're allowed to use words like N'wah, fetcher, and S'wit. They're used as insults in-game so can we use them as insults here?

That is allowed in literally every single MMO that I have ever played, I don't see why it wouldn't be here. I don't mind when people discriminate against me for being "a lizard", it kinda helps immersion actually.
The only thing that isn't allowed is discrimination against real life races and the like.

@Azurephoenix999 - As a second thought, you REALLY should add "in-game races" to the title. This forum lets you edit any post at any time, including title. I'd do it just to ensure some ZoS employee doesn't instantly assume you mean real life races without reading the post giving you a ban.

EDIT: I see you took my advice :)

Are we really so PC that you are asking if it's okay for you to discriminate against an imaginary race in a fictional world game?

Furthermore, there is a difference between discrimination and racism, even in a fictional virtual world.

There a guilds that forbid vampires and guilds for vampires. That's discrimination.

Now, as a vampire character I would get pretty annoyed if some player followed me around in the game shouting and whispering vampire insults at me. That's harassing even in a virtual fictional sense.

You'll get those people in literally every single MMO out there. Some people in console ESO have apparently gotten harassed and incredibly cursed at by a new player because they wouldn't give them their non-tradable crown store mount. It's unavoidable in MMO's. For PC you can just put them on Ignore, but for consoles..... well, as the devs said: "walk away". :s

I'd agree, most MMOs I know of allow "roleplayed discrimination" to better immersion, and most have rules against any kind of the same regarding real life.
And don't forget, there is also the other side where the other race characters can roleplay "resentment agains the stuck up racist altmer/dunmer/bretons/imperials" or go around seeing revenge... (there is a quest like that in Mournhold, even... and some of it shows up during the Stormhaven questline...)

I can recall some funny scenes where people were extremely different in-character and out-of-character in that regard while roleplaying some "evil" or "racist" character...

Most likely absolutely nothing will happen. Reports are reviewed by ZOS staff - they're not going to take disciplinary action against you based on a single report from a single person if there's no evidence to back it up.

If the person in question is into it I don't see why not, but if you're actively kicking someone from a dungeon run because they're Argonian or some sort of Mer you probably should sort out your priorities. That being said, not everyone will take kindly to a random 'swearing' at them, so, once again, ensure the other person is happy to roleplay.

What are they going to take action on? The voice chat isn't recorded by Zenimax. No matter how many times a particular player is reported, they have zero proof.

There are players on PC that have been exploiting for months, if not a year, and Zenimax hasn't done squat.

Nords are the true master race !
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

It's not a criminal court... They don't need proof beyond a reasonable doubt. If they believe that you are deserving of some form of disciplinary action, they can do that. If they get 50 different people reporting that 1 particular player is going around harassing people racial slurs, they're not going to just shrug and say "well, we sure wish we had proof."

Exactly why I made this thread: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/186453/zos-without-voice-chat-logs-on-console-what-determines-punishments
Really though, I made it because this thread is derailing fast.

On Topic: I never understood how "knife ear" is an insult to elfs :/ Yes they have pointed ears, but how is calling them a potentially deadly weapon for auditory canals in your head an insult?
