I'm new to the Elder Scrolls Online game, and I was wondering IF their was any difference between the "starting area" and the game as whole?
I'm still stuck in Stonehaven:[ working my butt off getting out of their? I was wondering IF it's worth it. Is their a "big difference " Is it worth continuing , to play afterwards. Look I'm kinda bored with the game right now, do you finaly get to really explore the game. Other it being 40 "other" gamers, all trying to complete the same quest at the same exact time. Because I'm not feeling , the whole open world vibe yet? To truly explore "something" that some other gamer hasn't already. I know it's an MMO, but we were promised by Zenimax we would truly get to explore Tamerial. Sometimes I feel better off , going back to play Skyrim. I can't be alone, in thinking this , can I?

If the game bores you, I'd recommend trying another one.

I enjoyed playing ESO, up to Level 50. Had no use for the VR missions (silver, gold) though.

Are you playing with a guild, or are you playing solo? Because that might be the issue , that I am having.

Hopefully I'll enjoy playing Batman Arkham Knight, allot more.

It's an MMO, there's a strong chance that there will be people camped out killing the boss at the end of a quest you're doing, especially if you play during peak hours. I usually play late night EDT so I don't see a ton of people everywhere, even less if I play the European server as they're at least +5 hours ahead of me so it would be 5-7 AM there.

Yes, Stormhaven is a boring/ugly area. However, once you leave it behind and start exploring the new areas, you will be rewarded with beautiful landscapes and plenty of new challenges.

I understand you, really. Elder Scrolls games where always about freedom - this one is abosutly theme park MMO. Granted very nice looking, with fully voiced quests but still. What is really annoying that so many of thse hudnrets of quests you are oging to do are variations of typical fetch quests. Storyline is just slightly above average. What keeps me in eso is pvp and dungeons from time to time, but i admit im slowly loosing hope for pvp.

Played cooperatively with my wife's character, except for the forced-solo instances in the main quest and Fighters and Mages Guild quests.

Also played solo with alternate characters.

As @sadownik wrote, this is a TES-themed standard MMO.

If you already dislike MMOs (like me), at best you'll find ESO tolerable, for a while.

ESO is not Skyrim 2, it's not Skyrim Online, and it's not Skyrim With Friends. This is an online, multiplayer game, not a single player RPG. If that's what you were hoping, then you might as well go back to playing Skyrim.

I don't see how you could have formed something even remotely resembling an informed opinion given that you've played ESO for less than a week.

For what its worth, wife and I had been subscribed since early release on PC (with a one-month break during a move), but we unsubscribed today. Just couldn't justify paying $30 a month for a game we play maybe three to four times a month.

For those who really enjoy MMOs though, this should be their cup of tea.

No, it makes a very big difference because they're different zones in different alliances. One is the level 4-15 zone in Ebonheart Pact, and one is the level 16-23 zone in Daggerfall Covenant. They're very different in terms of the type of landscape, the quests, and the enemies you face. Also one of the zones is intended for very new players who have just completed the starter zones, and the other is intended for players who have already played through one full non-starter zone and have some more experience under their belts.

Nah, both of your examples are a seeded fruit, the same but for pronunciation. Stonefalls and Stormhaven are very different things. One is the EP starting zone and is a pretty wretched place imo, the other is an aesthetically pleasant midlevel DC zone riddled with undead.

I miss Skyrim ... sold my Xbox 360 (along with Skyrim+expansions) to help fund a PS4 specifically for the improved graphics and gaming experience. My solo indulgence is Witcher 3 which is stunning and very decent solo game playing in a massive (well, appears to be) world.

Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

Don't feel alone in that. Lots of folks miss the completely open world and dynamics of both Oblivion and Skyrim. Your character could go anywhere at anytime, and do anything.

Like every other MMO, ESO is a string of connected quests, along which your character is guided. Do X, which leads to Y, which ends in Z. Deviating from the path isn't rewarded, or useful in an MMO.

I'd really like developers ... somewhere ... to break the MMO dynamic made popular by WoW.

But I'm not holding my breath.

FWIW I have been here since PC beta, so about 16months or so, and I really love the game, warts and all, and have played it every day since joining. I'm not saying you should feel the same, just giving you the other side of the coin. I have always been in guilds and contributed as fully as I could, I run daily pledges and dungeons every day with friends/guildies, and Craglorn is awesome, I love it and do group stuff there as well - I understand not everyone's cup of tea, but there is a lot t enjoy in the game, and is like anything else, you get out what you put in, and many large games are not always the best at low level. However, enjoy your gaming and do what works for you!

You have so much more of the same leveling ahead of you once your done with that faction you are forced to do the other two sides quests to hit V14.

Months ahead of you of the same quests thanks to their brilliant what if sliver and gold system instead of 50 been max level.

Nah you just wounded a god and saved Tamriel so what if we throw you back to the start of another faction and make you level up by doing every quest on their side. BUT! lets then make them do it a third time (you know because more is better) and throw them back to the start of the other alliance and make them do all of that.

Player: why do i have to do that? , cant i just make an alt and play that side brand new it would help to level an alt.
Zenimax: like anyone wants to do that pffft nah we will go with our idea and you just have to like it.

I would suggest starting different class characters in all three alliance areas as you may find one that you like more than the one you already have. I'd also strongly recommend you to do the starter area for each alliance before doing the main city you enter when you leave the tutorial. Follow the Prophet's prompts and speak to the nearby quest-giver.

The starting areas are super populated right now, at least on console. It definitely gets better once you get out of there, but 'better' is subjective. It's never going to feel like Skyrim. I like to call it a Elder Scrolls-themed MMO. If you don't like MMO's, you aren't going to like this game no matter how much you enjoyed Skyrim. I love ESO, though. Give it a try, you might too.

I can only wish it actually becomes theme park MMO. This game is missing too many amazing features for that to be true as is. This game is in the middle of MMO and a loner 'mersion game. Neither side of this argument is truly happy.
