Kuta back in the hireling mail?!

Funny how I got 1 Kuta today in one of my hireling mails. Haven't they been removed from hirelings in update 6? And when were they added back?
I mean, I'm not complaining at all, this was already overdue. Just asking
As I pretty much never find any in the wilds although I harvest everything I see, I'm glad they're back in the mails.

It was never removed. Just that it had a very very low drop rate.

Oh ok, then I misunderstood something.
But.. THIS is the "normal" drop rate now? I mean, once every 3 months or less are not enough at all... It's also about the same rate of what I find in the wilds.

So you have to do writs. That's the new way of getting things... to do something rather than wait for hirelings.

What I'm actually doing are quests and such and harvest materials on the way. And have hirelings activated with a few characters. Shouldn't this be enough? I hate writs. At least there should be the same chances to get a Kuta every now and then like when doing writs.

No worries. Unfortunately gold tempers are nerf hard on hirelings. With a low drop rate, you really have to battle the range Gods. Writs do a lot better on dropping gold tempers. The enchanter writs are easy enough though.

I did writs for a week and got none, and have gotten 1 in the mail since that update

Would have been better to leave the drop rate alone, and instead allow 1 hireling of any type per character.....and let those that had 8 enchanter hirelings farm writs/nodes all day (imo)

Why crush everyone because a few gamed the system

And I think that's the big problem... making your rewards (again) based on their sucky RNG.

For writs, you should get tokens of some sort. Those could be used to buy what you want from a vendor. That way you have two different systems in play... if you use your game time specifically for the purpose of bettering your crafting, i.e. writs, you get more control over what you get.

If you delegate to others, i.e. hirelings, you're at the mercy of the RNG.

At least, that's how I would have done it.

By making all things subject to their RNG (which does suck IMO in all applications), you make the problem with their streaky RNG endemic across all systems equally, even if certain applications are more labor intensive than others.

If you invest actual disposable resources into something over time, then shouldn't the reward be more predetermined to go along with that investment? I know people will say that they invested skill points into the hirelings, but I think it's been aptly proven that skill points aren't exactly rare, especially once you get to endgame.

I have one character who does Enchanting writs and she gets a couple of Kuta a week (and I will never run out of soul gems again).

Meanwhile, 7 characters doing provisioning writs since last Tuesday and not one Fragment...

Win some, lose some, I guess... :-P

Enchanting writs are an acceptable source for... well.. kuta. One does not need them in such huge numbers - and only one per piece of equipment.
However... for blacksmithing, clothing and woodworking even with writs the new gold rate is ridiculously low.

If you are getting them, then yes it seems "acceptable"...that is the problem with the stupid RNG. If you are lucky, it seems great. If the generator seems to not realize you play the game...then you are SOL. My provisioner hasn't got a fragment since that release either, I did get purple supplies 1 time since.


I wonder if certain players are coded to intentionally have the worst RNG imaginable to keep the fake economy afloat?

Because *my* RNG has been horrible the whole time, no matter whether it be writs, nodes, decon, vet keys.....

I think I have gotten one Kuta from a hireling since 1.6. I only get them from Enchanting Writ Containers. I think I even got one from a Survey once. But that was a node near the survey location, not one of the Survey Nodes.

I have 2 characters, both with max hirelings in blacksmithing, clothing, woodworking, alchemy, enchanting and provisioning. For some reason I regularly seem to get tempering alloy, this is not an issue for me cos I sell them immediately for 7k, but it seems pretty strange how I never get any dreugh wax, and I had one rosin last week, just tempering alloy all the damn time lol.

Edit: Tempering alloy also seems to drop more than dreugh wax or rosin when refining raw materials.

I've received 2-4 Kutas from hirelings since 1.6 dropped, and probably 10-15 from writs (either directly as writ rewards, or indirectly from a survey that was a writ reward). I don't do writs every day, though...

Inversely, I've gotten 1 since writs started, and up until last week, I was doing writs almost daily. Sucky RNG sucks.
