Soul Magic Question?

I love the dammage over time that Soul Magic has.
How do I get the Soul magic meter to grow to level 2?
Runing around all day killing stuff with Soul Magic just does not move the level meter.
Please help.

    It levels up from completing Main Quest quests.

    I normally just do writs each morning to help out putting stuff into Guilds.
    Ok I will try some of the main campain.
