ZOS doubled crown store XP booster prices in secrecy one day after the announcement?

I just revisited the thread that announced the XP boosters last week and I was confused that ZOS obviuosly changed the pack size of the XP scrolls in secrecy...

Don't know what I am talking about?

Old text from last week's announcement (I copied & pasted it to my guild's forum so I know it was there):
The Crown Experience Scroll, as the name implies, comes from the Crown Store and can be purchased for 1,000 crowns for a pack of 10. A single Crown Experience Scroll lasts for 2 hours, and gives you a 50% boost to Experience gained from any and all sources – any time your Experience Point bar moves, it will move 50% further.

New text, obviously edited 5(?) days ago:
The Crown Experience Scroll, as the name implies, comes from the Crown Store and can be purchased for 1,000 crowns for a pack of 5. A single Crown Experience Scroll lasts for 2 hours, and gives you a 50% boost to Experience gained from any and all sources – any time your Experience Point bar moves, it will move 50% further.

The German and French versions got of course edited as well, which had the pack of 10 in there first and got obviously edited down to 5 after one day (thread was posted on June 11th, all three threads got edited on June 12th).

So previously we were told to get 10 scrolls for 1000 crowns, so 100 crowns per scroll giving us one XP scroll for about 0,70€ or 10 scrolls worth 20 hours of XP boost for 7,00€ (if I buy the 3000 Crown package).

Right now we get 5 scrolls for 1000 crowns, so 200 crowns per scroll giving us one XP scroll for about 1,40€ or 10 scrolls worth 20 hours of XP boost for 14,00€ (if I buy the 3000 Crown package).

@ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom, @ZOS_KaiSchober:
Any explanation other than "Oh the initial posting was a mistake across ALL languages"?
Taking Kai in here as the forum is telling me he made the edit for all languages, so the DE, FR and EN threads.

I resubbed for the crowns based on the original post in anticipation. You shouldn't have posted a price if wasn't finalized. Now I'm sitting on 9000 crowns I won't be spending on XP potions or anything else currently in there because I don't feel any of it is value for money.

Exactly, poeple started planning things and considered 1000 crowns for 10 XP boosters valuable... Now I will rethink this for myself at least as the prices simply doubled. Glad I didn't buy the crowns already...

You did one day after the annoncement as I mentioned above! Right?

You have to realize that things change.

I would prefer they say things before they are cast in stone, like they did here, and with the Cyrodiil changes, while they are still finalizing the details. This allows commentary from us, and we get to hear about upcoming changes earlier. The downside is that things change.

The alternative is a more accurate release of information, but we get no feedback incorporated, and we wait longer for the info.

Why do you even think it's weird?
ZOS did smart thing OBVIOUSLY! 10 scrolls for 1k? that would be seriously stupid.
They decide about stuff like that and there's no such thing as secrets or conspiracy
For me personally it's hard to allow existing item like that in ESO ...but I'm the 'end user' of that 'product', so I got 2 choices:
    1. Keep playing & enjoy (and doing so)
    2. Stop playing
...and that seems completely normal since like... forever

Who said they need to adjust to what 'angry forum mob' demands?

Geez. Doubling the price!? That is crazy. You had it right the first time. ZOS, don't forget that a lot of the reputation of a game being Pay-2-Win is not just what is in the cash shop, but how much it costs. You really increase the feeling of P2W and word of mouth in the gaming community will be that the game is P2W, by doubling the cost of XP drinks. Keep them cheap and people will be too busy buying them to complain about P2W.

How about not having xp pots or scrolls in the game at all, then it definitely won't be P2W. But that just sounds like too much work for lazy gamers...

90% of all negative comments about P2W, nerfs, no content is from lazy people not even creative enough to explore 100% of the game

So that's, what, about $1/ hour for the boost? If you play 5 hours per day, it'll be about $7,800/ year to stay constantly boosted.

That's a bit pricier than expected.

I dont blame them. At first these will be a big money maker. If other games experience is any way similar to this one they will sell like hotcakes at first. Then after a few months taper off. Then they will discount the price.

Huh? $1 per hour * 5 hours per day * 365 days in year = $1,825 per year. Still a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a video game unless you have more money than you know what to do with, but not $7,800.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but if you don't like the price you could just, you know, make them with in-game resources... sure that requires a little effort and playing the game but you get to play a game, and the price is right.

Personally i'm glad they changed the price i thought it was too cheap before. But, I also understand that until something is released nothing is in stone... and guess what... after it releases they could still decide to change it and that would be fine to. Its an ever evolving game, roll with it. Or, you could play another game. The options are limitless!

@Sha_dow do you really think ZOS, or any othe company in the world for that matter, shouldn't be able to change its mind or make adjustments? Man, this game would be stuck in the state it was first released in if that were the case. And, at least the change comes before implementation. I think you may just be looking for things to complain about.

This is your fault sorry. Prices are ALWAYS subject to change, unoess there is something in an advert or anything for a product to guarantee the price, why wouldn't you just wait? Even game pre orders state prices may change and a lot of people list a price lock at the current cost as a perk for paying in advance. Note however that it is listed specifically that this is the case.

LOL, at first i thought 1000 crowns for a pack of five was just fine but for a pack of ten? That would be just too cheap... so cheap that crafting the in-game drink would really make no sense...

People can be so cheap sometimes... seriously, no one is forcing them to buy anything but they will always complain.

    not really mate

if you look at my post again It was a statement post not a complaint

@Sha_dow well, without splitting hairs a complaint is a statement. You seem to be making a statement about how you feel they are being dishonest. This is a complaint on the companies character.

But regardless of whether you feel like you are complaining or not its fine. What I don't get is how this can be construed as ZOS being dishonest. They stated a plan for a price, the plan changed, they edited the original post and have said they planed on making an announcement before it went live. Since all of this happened before ever selling a single xp pot in the crown store I don't get the complaint... or statement... It's not dishonesty. IF they wanted to be dishonest about it they wouldn't have said another thing about it, not edited information published in their public forums they would have just released it. I feel like people want conspiracy when there is none.

This situation is a lot like if I were to decide to open a lemonade stand next week and I told my friends i was planning on charging $1.00/cup. Then after buying supplies and rethinking the cost/cup and my profit margins and fiddling with the recipe to get it just right I decide that the price ought really to be $1.25/cup. So I start making signs with the price $1.25 on it and my friend comes by and sees it. He then says to me," you said it was going to be $1 and now you plan to charge $1.25, you are a liar and untrustworthy. You were attempting to scam me. This is unfair." My friends reaction doesn't make sense and neither does the reaction to this price change for xp potions.

I am not all mad about it, but i was definitely going to get a 10 pack on my next payday, now I'm maybe going to get them. Personally I'd love to see a single xp scroll option and a 10 pack, maybe charge 250 for a single, and 1800 for 10? I guess leave the five pack at 1000.

I think there is a market as well for something that slows down xp or disables xp, maybe a ring that can be taken off and put on at the users wants or needs.

Or.. I dunno... not even worry about the new xp pots (crown store or crafted).
I play slow. I can't find a guild/group that is on when I'm on, so I have yet to do a trial.
I don't even care how many CPs I have. I enjoy questing, running dungeons (if I can get a group), and enjoying the game.
I'm not in a mad rush to get to whatever the CP cap is this week.

The Goal is the Journey, not the Destination.

If I could pay real life money, log on, and have a VR14 toon with absolute max CPs... what would I have left to do myself?
Why RUSH to a point in time when there is nothing to do?

I really do not understand some people.
