Can someone please explain this? I got the perk because I do a LOT of mining, being a wearer of Heavy Armor. So what's it do? How do I get the stuff the hireling is supposed to send?

uhh- if you like... JUST bought the perk, I'm pretty sure you don't "immediately" get a mail? I think it might be 12 hours AFTER you buy the perk? I'm also pretty sure the timer resets if you respec... out of and then back into the perk...

every 12 hours as long as you log in at least once, you will receive a mail w/ random blacksmithing related items.

So it HAS to be every 12 hours? So if I log in at 6 PM, I gotta log back in at 6 AM?

no. if it's been over 12 hours and you log in, the clock resets to whatever time you logged in at.

But would I miss the chance to get my blacksmithing stuff? Also, what if I logged out for a while, then logged in later, say at 3-4 AM, but logged out after 20 minutes, would that allow me to log in at 3-4 AM?

the mail comes regardless- as long as you log in at some point in time during that 12 hour cycle. If you log in at say 12 A.M- you will hear a ding and get a mail. You can then log immediately back out and your clock starts at 12 A.M so, at 12 P.M if you log in again, you get another mail. If you log in at 2 P.M, you get a mail and your "new" clock starts at 2 P.M.

So I could logout now, log back in [I've been playing for over an hour], and get it?

Hirelings were crazy nurfed at 1.6 anyway, I have not got a gold item in months.

They are actually bugged. Some of my guildmates only receive a single useless style material. Every. Time.

Gotta agree. Right now hirelings are a joke. I have 3/3 for my blacksmithing hireling and have received 1 blue mat.
My provisioning hireling does a bit better and sometimes sends me one or two purple items and I have him at 1/3.
On the plus side, my provisioning hireling is funny as hell sometimes and it is usually an interesting read on his misadventures ;)

    I got 2 tempering alloys.

    Since 1.6.

3 maxed out blacksmith hirelings, I login daily. I also have 2 maxed clothier and woodworking hirelings. I've gotten 6 or so dreugh wax. I've yet to see a Rosin since TU.

It's every 24 hours on the first skill point spent. It's not 12 hours until the third point spent. Basically after 24 hours, the next time you are online with that character you well received a mail along with some mats. The timer will rest only if you are online and the mail will not stack up for you if you are offline for a couple days.

And don't let these guy scare you about them being nerfed. They are on a whole different level than you are, probably with multiple hirelings on multiple alts all maxed out. (Obviously some have even forgotten that's it's 24 hours on a new character.) They are concerned with with their bottom line, where as you might find you can use a little extra iron ore every so often.

Personally I find the best part will be the stories the hireling tells you. If you have a chance, check out one of each, but especially Pacrooti, the first wood hireling.

I'm actually glad to have found all the complaints about the hireling nerf, because I've been trying to decide if I should use a bucket of skill points to upgrade to 3/3 hirelings. I appreciate my 1/3 hirelings, mostly for trait gems which are hard to come by when first starting out and especially before maxing out the refining/deconstruction skills.

As far as the time, you have to log in no less than 24 hours from the last time you received the packages upon logging in (whatever you do in between is no issue).

The better you get and when you also add points to tempers then better things come. I have 4 characters 3 are just my mules, login after 12 hours get crafting mail from all of them. Receive the mail thru my main and go from there. Actually pretty cool and makes me great gold on the great AH setup this game has.

But I still say we should be able to join 6 guilds instead of just 5.
