XP for logging on enlightened?

I haven't been playing very much lately, so I mostly just log in to each character, feed their horse, maybe do a writ, then log off. Today when I logged on to my Orc blacksmith Mog gro-Gash, I was awarded a champion point and noticed my progress to the next point is already 89k. This confused me because the only time I've noticed getting XP in this way was when my researching of a trait had finished during the time I was offline. But, my 3 traits all have over 20 days remaining, so I'm confused as to why I'm getting XP simply for just logging in. I can't even remember the last time that character left Belkarth.
Anyone know where the XP came from? Since I don't play much I'm always enlightened, so is there a passive xp gain for inactive players or something?
