I am going to make this thread as a review round-up.

I don't say whether it's fair or not. ZoS released the game so they need to accept what comes whether it's fair or not. First score wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But I knew some reviewers would subtract points for the chat thing.

Let's hope the upcoming reviews score it good!

Most reviewers, review the game just before it releases. So they wouldn't have had the server lag. Which makes the rating acceptable. I would mostly agree with it.

Why not? The reviewer has already put hours into the PC version. The only differences are the visuals, controls and communication (which was touched on).

Some people think 80's scores are not that great. Eighty's are pretty darn good for a game, it's not the top echelon of scores like almost perfect with the ninety plus, but still a decently polished game. It won't get many 90's because of it's omitting of common mmo standards.

I don't really trust this reviewer for one simple reason...he/she couldn't figure out how to mute people in voice chat...and that was the FIRST thing I learned in the game. (lol)

Yeah, just don't read the 'player' reviews because they are filled with nothing but complaints about log-in problems and queues, but ZOS should take solace in knowing that, considering how few reviews there are on Amazon, it must mean more people have been able to log on because they're too busy playing to complain. Most people usually only write product reviews when they are unhappy- which is why a lot of reviews on merchant sites can be misleading.

Notice IGN docked marks for the communication features (or lack thereof). 1st of many publications that will do so. As expected. Where is Blacksmurf now, I wonder?

Well you see FFXIV XI , FFXIV ARR , DCUO , Neverwinter , all mmos on consoles managed button remapping , character names used , and text chat.

All things Zenimax said were too hard to accomplish or too confusing for poor console players. ( No really , they said console players couldn't handle button remapping , watch relaunch dev twitch stream).


So reviewers who have played every other major mmo on a console expect these basic features and start off on a bad foot to begin with.

its Zenimax first MMORPG so they can get the first time bonus to some degree but its no excuse to not add this "basic" features cause they have proven to work and are just a standart today, a well unwritten rule who shouldnt be broken
in todays industry reputation is very important.
Even mouth to mouth propaganda, and im sure that Zenimax will try to avoid to get such a bad reputation in the industry, but that works only if they observe other titles,learn,improve and take feedback serious ( good copy>bad homebrew^^ )

lol ya, totally fair...folks who don't own the game and have a chip on their shoulder throw in a vote. Very scientific.

The actual professional critic reviews are pretty fair. The "community" reviews are ridiculous.

From what I have read, the Xbox has had fewer issues with connectivity and fewer login issues overall. Player scores will be higher there when players can actually play.
