How do I get a mount without having to buy one with crowns?

Go to a stable in one of the towns (open your map and look for the horsehead icon)
Think the cheapest one is like 10k gold

You can purchase mounts at stables in game, look on your map and look for a horse head icon. One mount should be 10k and some 47k. They are only different looking, there is NO difference in stats. If you'd like, I have a video guide on this, although it is for PC the basic game mechanics are the same, just the buttons are different

To add to this, if 10K gold seems like it's out of reach to you (as it can seem for a low level player - at higher levels you'll get 10K+ in quest rewards and loot in even a relatively short session of questing), spend a little while in town carefully stealing from containers, and selling the contents to your friendly local fence in the outlaw's refuge.

You start out being able to fence 50 items per day. Stolen white items are sold to a fence for 30 gold, green for 100 gold, blue for 250 gold. So it's not unreasonable at all to be able to get 10K gold in just 2-3 days by spending an hour or so per day stealing stuff. Just be careful to be sneaky about it so you don't rack up a big bounty - and if you have a bounty be sure not to get caught by the guards.
