How you thought having weapon swap on the d pad was a good idea is mind boggling. You either have to reach across with you right hand or stop moving to weapon swap....

Nope not at all. That's my only complaint, other then that I'm happy. Will still play on pc as well though. But at least now I can play with some of my friends who aren't nerdy enough to take the pc plunge!

I'm still downloading the game, so I have no idea if I'll like the layout or not. At least on PS4 you can remap the whole controller's buttons if you want through the PS4 system settings menus, under accessibility and button assignments. It affects the whole system, and every game, but at least it's an option until/unless they add one in game. No clue on XB1 as I don't have one.

    No you cannot.

In last weeks dev video they said they took out the option they had in earlier beta to remap keys because you might setup some combos of buttons that would confuse you.

Seriously , they don't trust console players to remap their own keys.

    Silly isn't it.

So at least you can do this through PS4 right? Unfortunate that it affects the entire console rather than a profile for each game.

Yeah, it was added in a system update not too long ago. Sadly it is a system wide change, so you'd have to go in and change it back for other games, but like I said, it's at least an option. Not the best option at all, but better than none. It'd be amazing if Sony actually implemented game/app profiles so you could set up a fully custom layout per game/app. Maybe they will in the future lol.

Actually you could , they just don't trust you to do so. They are making it "easier" for you so you don't mess up and make some setting that isn't optimal.

Seriously , they had the option in and took it out in case of "confusing" , said by Zeni last week during twitch stream.

Yeah, these controls are not optimal for PvP.

I would rather swap Sneak on R3 with Weapon Swap on Pad Left, as Mr. Bigglesworth has pointed out. Weapon Swap needs to be more accessible. I would also like for synergy to be one button. Maybe synergy can be Pad Down instead of switching between first and third person?

I would like to be able to customize some of these controls please.

It actually surprised me just how much they came off multiple times in last weeks twitch stream as they didn't think console players could handle options like remapping of controls.

I joke about being PCMR ( getting PS4 also though ) but truly mean it in a kidding way.

To hear the devs basically say they took away already in place options for changing controller buttons to protect the console players from themselves though was another level.

just curious.....is this from a PS4 perspective or Xbox One?

I'm only phrasing it this way because I can see the thumb sticks and such being more of an issue on PS4 whereas on Xbox One, its a natural move and button sequence for pretty much all the controls.

Additional options will not hurt tho in anyway, but just curious.

Not sure how it could be better on Xbox, you still have to take your thumb off your movement stick to weapon swap. That's ridiculous. Unless the d pad is on the right side of the controller on Xbox.

Think what he means is that the layout of the Xbox is more suited to "crossing over" and hitting the dpad with your right hand. I do it so often in Borderlands to switch weapons that it's nearly second nature.

It would be really nice to be able to re-map keys, but it does seem to be more of an issue with the PS4 controller layout.

    I'll tell you what's annoying.

In the console demo stream they had last week, they said at first they were going to allow custom mapping, but decided against it because their default was the best fit.

    Custom mapping is ALWAYS better.

I don't get it; they removed button mapping on a platform where there are less buttons to "get confused", but leave the option in on a platform where we have dozens of keys we could map and confuse ourselves with?

How does that logic even work?

I've never heard of such a ridiculous reason for not having button mapping. It's rather insulting to the console crowd, actually, to be told they're not intelligent enough to use their own mappings (that they've probably been using in other games that share a similar layout).

They really should have thought of a better excuse for taking it out, or, y'know, just left it in since there's no reason to not have such a basic ability in games these days.
