At least on PS4 you can remap the whole controller's buttons if you want through the PS4 system settings menus, under accessibility and button assignments. It affects the whole system, and every game, but at least it's an option until/unless they add one in game. No clue on XB1 as I don't have one.

So at least you can do this through PS4 right? Unfortunate that it affects the entire console rather than a profile for each game.

Yeah, it was added in a system update not too long ago. Sadly it is a system wide change, so you'd have to go in and change it back for other games, but like I said, it's at least an option. Not the best option at all, but better than none. It'd be amazing if Sony actually implemented game/app profiles so you could set up a fully custom layout per game/app. Maybe they will in the future lol.

Hopefully you guys get something to help out in future. It's very unfortunate that consoles are still missing basic functions to assist in customizing controls in 2015...

Actually you could , they just don't trust you to do so. They are making it "easier" for you so you don't mess up and make some setting that isn't optimal.
Seriously , they had the option in and took it out in case of "confusing" , said by Zeni last week during twitch stream.

That's a complete joke. Less options Is never better.

Maybe ZOS is so PCMR that they really do feel like they need to treat console users like infants.
But....they screw over the PC players most of all....
Quite the paradox.

I'm only phrasing it this way because I can see the thumb sticks and such being more of an issue on PS4 whereas on Xbox One, its a natural move and button sequence for pretty much all the controls.
Additional options will not hurt tho in anyway, but just curious.

Not sure how it could be better on Xbox, you still have to take your thumb off your movement stick to weapon swap. That's ridiculous. Unless the d pad is on the right side of the controller on Xbox.

See above. Personal opinion is it's a lot better on Xbox as the bottom of my thumb easily operates the D-pad while the top simultaneously operates the thumb stick
