XBOX ONE or PS4? I cant decide and time is running out!

UPDATE: With only a few hours to spare...I've listed which system won on page 2

Unlike in the presidential elections...your vote actually matters here! I will buy whichever version wins.

Help me decide between XBOX ONE and PS4...before it's too late! I own both.

A little info about my systems first:

PS4 has 1TB memory with about 60% of it used
XBOX ONE has an external 4TB with about 25% used

Now onto the things I'm having to consider for each:

PS4 has superior hardware. This isn't even a debate at this point...every site I went to came to this conclusion.

XBOX ONE will have WINDOWS 10

PS4 is 10% off for PS Plus members

I prefer the XBOX ONE controller

PS4 is 1080p

XBOX ONE will have better streaming features soon

PS4 does NOT have an external hard drive, and anything with 2TB or more seems to become less reliable

PS4 will have a larger community

On XBOX ONE ESO will have few MMORPGs to compete against (maybe Neverwinter?). That might change the population sizes

Micro$oft hates cross console gaming...which is why Final Fantasy is only available on PS4

Please help me...

    Couple things.

    - Both Xbox and PS4 are 1080p 30fps. This was confirmed on the ESO live on June 4th.
    - Xbox Live network is superior to PS Network. PS users enjoy downtime for days when voice starts failing.
    - Neither Sony or Microoft will ever agree to cross console play. They are competitors in the console industry.

If you are going to play on na, then either ps4 or xbox. If you are going to play in eu, a recent poll showed that in eu the majority of eso players are in ps4 with a great difference. So you might wanna take this into account also

For me, I dont have a headset for the PS4 so the XBOX ONE one will be used, also, I also prefer the controller, and I am assuming both will have Rumble, I know XBOX ONE does, not sure about PS4. And you mentioned it at the start, about Windows 10, and eventually, the game will be optimized for Direct X 12 - something that wont happen on the PS4.

Also, as a bit of irony, if I want to once Windows 10 is released, I could play ESO on XBOX ONE THROUGH my PC! (Using the XBOX ONE controller of course).

So, yeah, my vote also went to XBOX ONE.

    Isn't that just for streaming?

  • burdocklightbringercub18_ESO
I took it that you could stream the game, so maybe, not sure, my definition of streaming may vary, but hey, if not, what a good idea huh? And if not, oh well.

If you want to be in the first wave, flip a coin and go for it.

Otherwise if you don't mind waiting, see which platform has more players in your region by checking the reports in the forums and asking the players themselves.

Either is good but I sense a bias towards Xbox here or lack of info for ps4.

1.PS4 allows access to ESO even if not subscribed to PSN plus.(not a big deal if always subbed but if not it's a big deal)

2.PS4 has an extra button with the touch mouse(could be used for easier inventory management, dont know if ESO takes advantage)

3.They might both run 1080p but PS4 will run smoother if that is the case.

4.Sony does not prevent cross platform this is true.

5.The interface on PS4 is faster than Xbox one.

6.PS4 will most likely support remote play.

Can you link to a confirmation of 1080p/ 30 on both platforms? Developers have a loose grasp of that term. I'd wait to proclaim that until Digital Foundry passes its verdict. The recent 1080p dynamic "upgrade" to Witcher 3 only applies to custscenes and the game is 900p everywhere else.

Also your ramble about PSN downtime is hyperbole bordering on fanboy propaganda. Live has had plenty of issues with downtime and service interruptions this year.

    P. S. FFXIV, soon DCUO and lots of games on PS platforms support cross platform play with PC. Unless you mean with each other's closed networks, in which case you're correct.

I have both systems and will be on Xbox because personally it is a better online experience. I have found over the 10 years of playing Xbox and Xbox Live you get what you pay for in the online portion. Not to mention Microsoft has huge investments in networking and cloud servers on the business side that they leverage for Live.

Really like my PS4 but that's for single player and MLB The Show.

Also I laugh when people bring up that PSN is not required for PS which is fine except most likely your not going to ever only play ESO on your Xbox and will likely carry Live 99% of the time so why not maximize that investment by putting all multiplayer games on what most cross platformers consider the best online experience.

Finally 900 vs 1080 or 720 vs 1080 is not something you are going to notice in a game unless your playing them both which you want be. Graphics are nice but again prefer Live.

Also one other thing Microsoft likes to keep a lid on cross platform for the same reason Apple keeps a secure ecosystem and it has to do with stability. Some publishers could handle it but they know for a fact others would screw up the online standard that Live mostly has. Not to say games haven't had their issues just less so when companies only need to worry about 1 set of hardware configurations.

Ps- is Sony love cross platform so much where is the ESO PS4/PC server?

ZoS is most likely not entertaining that due to wanting parity or some clause.

This is not true - it was going to be true when it was still a subscription game, but now it is buy to play, it is no longer true.

Probably. I'm sure we'll get plenty of comparisons during the week.

See I don't agree with this, just because it has a bigger user base as a console does not mean it will have more people playing ESO. If anything a bigger community usually just means you have more COD/BF players on your system.

This was the same thing last generation with Xbox 360 having a larger user base. The Xbox 360 had a larger user based and most of that user base played 3 games (Halo, COD, Gears of War).

On the flip side you are going to find most PS4 owners will be playing COD, Gran Turismo, MGS, and combo of all sony exclusive titles such as Last of US and Little Big Planet last generation.

ESO is going to be very similar on both systems and if I had to bet there will be a slight edge to Sony likely built from non-NA areas such as APAC where a majority of players will likely be on PS4.

If the community on the Xbox forum for ESO is anything like the one for Skyrim then it will be great. The Skyrim forum was friendly, supportive and helpful, what more could you want.

I thought the streaming only worked one way? Stream xbox one games to pc, not stream pc games to the xbox one. If I am right that feature sucks, if it goes the other way it still sucks because PC games run at higher settings than consoles.
