Master Angler: FAIL

Since starting the fishing achievement I have encountered something quite frustrating. When I happen to have a full inventory and catch a blue fish(or green), said blue fish disappears. I cannot keep it even if I go to my inventory and destroy something(which works when looting anything else.) This has happened to me about 5 times and I know of many other people who have encountered the same problem. If I were to get a fish I should be able to hastily throw something out of my pack to make room. I have also submitted a report about it even though I am not sure if it is a "bug" per se. Just something SUPER annoying that ZOS has done. I try to keep track of my inventory space at all times when fishing but it is hard considering I am so used to being able to clear bag space then get what I didnt have room for in the first place.

I feel like I wasted hours fishing in this game because I was never able to catch that fish.

Has anyone else experienced this? If you have experienced the disappearing fish; was there a trick to keep it? Is it a bug?

Why would you not dump your bag before going for something you know you wanted to keep?

Sounds completely logical. Why should the fish just lie there and wait while you rummage through your junk? Makes sense he just flip flops back into the water while you're not looking....

Don't go fishing without inventory space for fish. Problem solved.

Yeah, if you have the Wykkyd's toolbar you can set it to display your inventory room. I'm sure there are other addons that do that as well.

I keep a close eye on my inventory while fishing, so this has not actually happened to me.

What has happened was that I was fishing for Ocean Fish in Eastmarch and just as I was catching the blue fish, a rift opened up behind me and the mobs attacked before I could grab the fish and I lost it.

It took me a while to get it again.

Now I never go by a rift without killing them all...

Well, I go fishing IRL, and Ill tell you this; if a fish has been reeled in and is on my line, I does not "flop back into the water". And if I didnt have room for an awesome fish, best believe I would hold on to that sucker as I threw something out.

Also, I get that I should be keeping track of my inventory space. And there have been times(the last 2 times I caught a blue and lost it) where I was keeping track(or trying to) and it happened. I am just saying that this shouldnt happen considering there are many, many other things in this game that you can loot after going to your inventory and destroying them, so, why shouldn't a fish be one of them?

But thanks for everyone's input so far. Ill have to see if I can figure out wykkyd's thing, because I have it, but it doesnt show invertory space. Maybe I have to toggle it or something?

Yes, I use the Toolbar that is in Wykkyds add-on and you toggle on/off what you want the toolbar to show. Mount hunger, bag space, gold, AP, zone, there is a whole variety of options! My rule of them is if I am near a wayshrine and have less than 40% of my bag space.. I take the time to completely empty it out before I venture on.

I've hid em under the deck boards in the boat because I was already over the limit before

I have absolute 100% respect for anyone that has the patience to get the master angler title.

I'd like to do it, but the temptation to do other things during my small window of gaming time, well it's just to great.

They missed out on an opportunity to call this achievement the Master Baiter achievement if you ask me.

Or they could do what other games have done, give you an opportunity to save 1 or 2 items then allows you to either discard them or delete something in bags that allows you to save the item you like. Some games give you a timer to allow this.

This is a non issue. Next time make sure your bags are not full.

they change it in 1.6

before you can open your bag while looking in the opened chest etc

but now you cant

This is like that guy that looted a purple motif while his bags are full.

There are addons that show your bag status and even alert you.

There is no excuse for this, and it is definitely not an issue with the game systems.
