Dragon Star Arena....from a Newbie perspective

Just thought I'd post something for those that have not yet or are about to reach entering the DSA (Dragon Star Arena).

WHAT A FREAKING LAUGH! Brilliant! Love it! Look forward to it!.

Myself and 3 Guildies finally got all to v14 and jumped in there last night for the first ever time. What a superb experience. We had an absolute blast. From taking on the first level, no deaths thinking "Hey, this isn't so bad" to then realising in round 5 this is a tad trickier to getting to the final Boss and the Sub boss' and defeating them.

Arguably the most fun the 4 of us have had in a while in ESO even though it was set on Normal and it still took us 2.45hrs

So a word of advice to those getting close to it: Ignore those that say it's all boring and repetitive. Sure, they've been around for a year and did it all last year - but for those venturing in to it now....enjoy it.... :)

First experience is definitely the best one. (First where you get all the way to the end, anyway!)

It's refreshingly different from most of what you've seen up to this point.

Best PVE I ever had was doing normal DSA blind (first time, no guides) with two friend and a PUG healer. It took us six hours and many wipes but there were so many laughs about it.

These days sadly I have done regular DSA enough and play with people experienced in vDSA that every spawn is pre-called, every tactic learnt. :disappointed:

I'd love to try if it takes less than an hour... or 2hr tops.

It's great content but personally i can' never squeeze enough dedicated time to finish one.

It is the best content in the game. vDSA adds some more elements, especially in the last arena.

I'd like to see something else that's small group like this. 4 or 6 players and trials for more complex fights than we have.

Agree DSA was a great experience back then.

Mostly the dk Boss (not the Vamp, the other on with sword/shild), i thought, wtf she is using my skillsetup :o

@Davadin , 10 minutes a round is a good estimate when starting out, so you're looking at 1.5 hrs at least.

It gets faster as you get better, but that's probably the minimum time I'd plan on having allotted if you're never set foot before.

Granted we had 5 minute breaks in 2-3 of the rounds to sort outselves out, grab drinks.

It was totally about the experience for the 4 of us rather than "hardcore we must do the best we can".

I remember doing DSA for the first time together with my girlfriend and two other people. It took us 5 hours in total before we ran out of lives at the final boss and gave up. After some time and much trial and error we managed to beat the DSA after 3.5 hours. The next step was VDSA which was overwhelmingly different from the normal version. We wiped over and over again and made our own strategy, found the proper people to run VDSA on a regular base and then finally managed to beat VDSA as well with 1 live remaining after 3 hours.. it was a mess, but we were happy..

Now I am running VDSA on a regular base with the same three people and we manage to scratch the <1 hour mark occasionally. I guess it's all about the patience and development.

^^ So I've read. As others have pointed out, you get to the point where you know the spawns and act accordingly.

Actually, maybe someone can answer this...what do you get in the chests in vdsa - do the items get better as you get further in or is it pure RNG from the first round? i.e. Finish Rnd1 and I could get a Masters staff then *** in the rest....

When we ran the normal DSA everyone got some v13 set item 2-3 times - me, I got a set of v13 healer boots in the final chest.

Did it for the first time myself with my VR12 sorc with 3 VR14's who had done it (going for the right weapon drop.) We were all on TS so I did a lot of listening :)

Was tons of fun, I got 3 CPs while doing (was enlightened) and dinged VR13. Didn'd get the weapon but I had done COH with the same group just before DSA and the Necklace of Adroitness (my prescioussss) dropped for me so I was still happy about that :)

    It was a good night.

You only get v14 set items in VDSA from the final chest (except from accesoires which appear in the chests between rounds as well), same goes for the master weapons. They are exclusive to the last chest.

Honestly, the best thing about DSA is the fact that you can really start doing it at Vet 1. It's a challenge, but the XP and Gold rewards are huge. It's amazing fun with a group that learns to react to fights quickly and can salvage a death or two efficiently. It really prepares you for anything in this game, IMO.

It's without a doubt the best raid/trial/dungeon in the game, and it's among my top-10 instances in any game.

Surely if I'm running my v9 temp though I would only see v9 gear at the end of the run in the final chest, if I made it?
