Last night I reset my skills and instead of using Dark Cloak I got Shadowy Disguise. Now, when using Shadowy Disguise there have been a few times when it doesn't change the character colours. The character goes through the motions just like it is working proper, but no colour change to black and transparent etc... It never did this while using Dark Cloak.
