Greetings guys,

The last episode of Timeout from Tamriel created a passionated and heated discussion in the Youtube comments, so I though it was important to bring it here, on the forum. I find the subject interesting and the various opinions that had been expressed so far to be constructive. Certainly the kind of discussions that Zenimax should follow closely!

In the first video, Deltia, Sigtric and myself discuss about our opinion regarding the current state of the Racials passive. In the second video, I react to some comments of viewers and propose an alternative to the racial passives.
If you have seen those video already, sorry to share it again! :)

I really love the idea of racial ultimates. Khajiit ultimate = ground AOE that steals players items when stepping in leaving them naked ! could be most OP ultimate :D

Already seen, but sharing my point of view here again.
Yes, racials need to be reworked, lesser popular races need some love, and yes especially Argonians, Orcs, and eventually Nords ^^
I don't have the numbers about what people are actually playing concerning races, but doing a lot of PvP, you have killing achievements, which shows the obvious : Argonians are the least played race by far. 100 Kills for Altmer and Bretons are done for months, but I'm still at 12/100 for Argonians... And when you look at the passives it's obvious why it is that way. And they even get nerfed at 1.6... why ?

I think many people see the Argonians as a race close to nature, alchemy, maybe healing, and a race that is strong because of it's wild nature. They've got scales, claws, a tail, so they should have a good advantage against more humanoid creatures. Try a knife against scales then against human skin, skin will feels like butter. Ask a Breton to scratch an Argonian, I'm not even sure it will make him giggle, ask the opposite... poor Breton.
Being close to nature, and self healing, I would expect a bonus to regeneration in some way. And we know that health regen is useless, so they'd need more (same goes for Nords ^^).
Also, we have no bonuses for the healing we produce on others... Yet there are quests in this very game that speaks about the power of healing that Argonians can produce.

About Orcs. The great thing that I always remember about the Orcs is the Berserker. This is a strong word, which need a strong bonus. Having a powerful bonus when you're low health may sound OP for some, but if it's your main bonus, when you don't have all the super fancy bonuses from the Bretons, then it's just being on an equal footing. And of course I'd expect at least a small diminishing damage received, because they enjoy fights, they even ask for it as we've seen in other ES games, hit them and they'll become your best friend.

For Nords, I'm sure it has already been said several times, including from Deltia, but yes they need to feel stronger, being able to survive in battles, they are known warriors, like in the trailers for example... So again, bonus to damage receive as it is, maximum health that is more interesting than 3%, and more than just the health recovery. What is the resource that actually helps to survive in battles ? Stamina. Nords need a bonus to that too, they're not afraid of long battles, know how to fight so they're more efficient, stamina is absolutely logical.

Concerning Khajiits. I also don't understand why they don't have some kind of bonus to Stamina, or speed. They may not have a skin as strong as Argonians, but I'd fear their claws even more.

Overall, I'm all for race passives to be very powerful and meaningful. If you look at 2 Dragonknights, I wish there would be a strong difference between the 2 because they don't have the same race. But they're also not the same size, they don't have the same muscles, ...
Now the great thing about oldschool RPGs is that you had on one part small race passives, but you could also choose your attribute points, which helps make up for it and let you do an Orc healer, or a Bosmer Warrior, etc... We need them back, we need a character sheet where we actually choose if we want to be strong, close to magic, or close to weapon, etc... Because not all Nords are the best warriors, not all Argonians loves nature, not all Khajiit are sneaky, etc...

ZOS, you speak about freedom in your last trailer, give it to us <3
