Locking Threads due to a few bad apples

Suggestion: Instead of locking threads because a few people sling mud at each other in an otherwise idea garnering civil debate, why not bar them from posting rather than shut down the whole thread?

These moderators suspend people for statements which are perfectly acceptable on every other video game's official forums. They are thread locking comment deleting censors who use wild interpretations of the code of conduct to shape the forums as a PR piece instead off allowing it to be used for productive discussion and feedback.

If you do a Google cache filtered search set to forums.elderscrollsonline.com for simple words like "lag" "broken" "fix" or whatever topic you're after them you will find numerous partial threads which have been outright deleted. You can document the thread numbers and soon realize the crazy amount of unfair moderation that goes on here.

Basically anything that makes Zenimax look bad is blasted out of existence.
End the tedious inventory management game.

These are censored forums, so you must behave or will be banned. This is how zos operates it. If you want better more open discussions - try reddit, or something. But they don't have so many people participating in it unfortunately.

Is it the forum format or maybe the frequency of repeated topic ideas?

You're giving those threads too much credit. They may have started out good, but conversations have a flow to them, and the one's I've seen closed for "mud slinging" pretty much needed to be closed to end it.

Hello there, everyone. We always attempt to keep a thread open, providing it has a valid and constructive topic to discuss, but occasionally a thread will so consistently and so severely veer off topic that it needs to be closed. Respectful discourse does not have to be positively spun, but it does have to be civil.

We understand the frustration of a thread being closed (we don't like closing threads, either), but sometimes it is the only option available in order to keep the forums a constructive place.

If anyone ever has questions or concerns about a disciplinary action or decision we have made on the ESO forums, we encourage you to please contact http://help.elderscrollsonline.com/, specifying that you are contacting about a forum-related inquiry or appeal. We are happy to discuss and review specific moderation-related actions with you via ticket. Thank you for your understanding.
