Empower buff and templars

Darkflare gives empower buff but it only gets full effect from 4 class skills: Darkflare, Focused Charge, Javelin, and only the radial sweep ultimate.

3 of those can proc burning light which consumes the buff so it's basically only reliably good at buffing the same skill that gives the buff lol.

Sun fire only gets buff on initial hit which is small but not the DoT so it is a waste.

Why can't channels be buffed since they have so many drawbacks already just due to the mechanics?

Burning Light procs after the initial hit, so it wouldn't consume the buff from Empower until the main strike has landed. Also Darkflare doesn't buff itself iirc, built that way to make rotations more, you know, like a rotation, similar for Uppercut and the like.

The idea is you use Darkflare and then follow it up with something like a heavy attack or a single hitting skill such as radial sweep or the charge skills or something like that. And as for channels, well, it's probably for the best they don't have a constant +20 to them because that'd be broken.
Bobbity Boop, this game might become poop, but I'll still play because I'm just a pile of goop!

Pretty sure Dark Flare does buff itself now. They use to have it written directly in the tooltip that it does not, but I think that changed with 1.6.

The testing I did was in 1.5 so it's very possible that burning light is a secondary effect now but, stranger code has been found before lol.

I know that it's supposed to create rotations and that is kinda my point. Sorcs use entropy to empower frags, wrath, ults, curse which are their classes primary damage dealers, NBs can use it to buff impale, concealed weapon, funnel health, ults etc. DKs can buff lash, inhale, talons, ults. The point is that they can all buff their main class damage dealers which for templar is jabs, super beam, sun fire and darkflare of which only darkflare can be truely buffed.

Channels already have a hard time with weaving and adding the inability to be buffed with empower really hurts.

Yep, Flare, Dark Flare, Solar Barrage stacking with itself to accept spamming. After you land first attack next ones will be with +20% damage buff.

Pre 1.6 things like Dark Flare and Ambush used to buff the entire duration of skills like Sun Fire and Rapid Strikes, not just the initial hit, has this changed with the Empower buff in 1.6? Has this been tested in the current version?

Empower increasing dot damage, but channeled skills are not affecting by it (i.e. - Sun Fire will hit harder by initial damage with incresed dot damage, Rapid Strikes won't deal more damage at all).

    Dark flare does empower itself.

Empower does not buff the dot for bane.

I'm 100%on both of those statements.

you are 100% correct but it does empower the initial hit/s of bane and reflective , as that is counted as separate action, unlike with sweeps or wall of elements. i am 100% certain of this.

You are 100% correct. I wish it empowered the dot.

Solely from memory and going back a good bit of time, I think I used Solar Barrage to build ultimate between fights. It was the only skill that didn't require a target in the Dawn's Wrath line. Not sure if this is still a thing.

    Dynamic ultimate is long gone.

It's my understanding it only buffs the initial hit. The DMG is conditional as stated in the tooltip.

Only one target get the empowered hit, the rest of them get tooltip.
