Hindsight on CP Back-Crediting Debate

Now that the Champion System has been out for a while, can we please re-examine the debate that raged for months about back-crediting players CP for experience?

In hindsight, I think Zenimax made the right decision not to completely credit all experience and limit it to 70 max.

Considering the power imbalances that are already becoming apparent between people willing to grind for CP all day, and those with less free time, it would have destroyed game balance to allow full back-credit for CP.

Think about what would have happened if someone with 8 VR14 characters was awarded 8*70=560 Champion Points on day one. That would have been an unmitigated disaster. People would have been able to start with at least three 120-point bonuses, with points to spare. The 120-point bonuses are really ludicrous, by the way, like a 2k point damage shield every time you block, etc.

I just wanted to remind people about this whole debate that raged on here for a long time, and how I believe Zenimax actually got it right.

Because if you were on the Forums in January and February, this was literally every other thread.

I just wanted to point out the fact that Zenimax actually got this right.

Yeah but Zenemax were never talking about giving credit for ALL characters, only the most advanced one.

So those screaming about how OP it would be at the time were wrong, and obviosuly so but so were those who wanted ZOS to "level the playing field". Generally those where the ones who wernt at VR14 and believed they would get a jump on the leveling process.

Both camps were full of children who dont read patch notes and just parroted what the other kids in the playground said.
The forums where full of crap and hearsay.

Its hardly worth your time to bring it up again, surly theres more to talk about?

I disagree. I think what the post 1.6 game shows is that people were right to be worried about the loss of silver/gold XP that can never be gotten again. Gaining XP without a group is a PAINFUL experience unless you have silver/gold quests to work on.

I had two max level characters and tried to earn CP without silver/gold or a group and it took forever to get 3 CP. I leveled another alt and within 3 vet levels earned over 25 CP. I'm not saying people should have gotten 70 for every max character but I think 1 was not enough. The cap should have been 2 or 3. Grinders will always find a way so why punish people who rely on the actual game content to level?

If they got it right it would have been horizontal progression instead of vertical.
More a case of making the best out of a bad situation IMHO.

Not that I think the CS is crap design....just wasn't appropriate.

It's good as is now. If they would back credit now it also would break balances.

Why would yu want to start this debate when you seem to agree with how it was implemented.

Personally, I have no issues with how it was implemented as long as my V14 rank means something after vet ranks are removed.
