What am i doing wrong?

Am i doing something completely wrong or is just what the game has become?
Returned for the welcome back weekend, vr7 Sorc, Destr/resto staff. attributes spent evenly in magicka/health, food buffs on, full vr4+ gear.
granted that isnt an amazing character but i just get absolutely destroyed in pvp?
nightblades opening on me from stealth, two 8-10k hits, insta death, same even with bow nightblades, three random 6k shots out of nowhere, dead.
any sort of mass pvp i just die instantly even while having hp pot up, rapid regen, healing ward spam and rolling.
Ive resorted to just staying in the safest places possible in fights and spamming rapid regen to get alliance points, do i really have to get v14 and gear up just to be able to do anything in pvp?

✭✭✭✭I would seriously suggest you take a look at some of Deltia's Gaming ESO builds for 1.6 (and beyond) (on Youtube) he has some specific ideas about the minimum health you need to function in PvP.

Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.***Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis0 -
MeedzySoul ShrivenAfter posting this thread i decided to go back into some pvp, before i even managed to get halfway to a keep a nightblade jumps me and kills me in two hits, one for 11k, this sort of stuff and the constant lag already is making me want to uninstall again, not a great welcome back weekend so far0

✭✭✭✭I had thought that Deltia said something like you need a minimum of 18k health in PvP to avoid getting killed by one-shots. I can't recall the numbers though.

As one poster had said above, look into deltia gaming videos amd also those done by sypher or kristofer. Amazing PvP players.
But here are some basics:
Heavy armor helps with damage mitigation. A lot.
There isnt any soft cap anymore so wearing cloth with buffs doesnt help with survival.
Shield stacking seems to be key to surviving the one shotters.
There are many changes to the class skill lines that you might need to redo or revamp your build.
Burst damage and keeping yourself alive are important.Ingame: RavenSworn, Pc / NA.

Basically this and what the guy above me said. Always move in stealth if you can, and avoid being alone. Light Armor is not going to protect you from my Nightblade's awesome Stealth openers anymore :P. BOLT ESCAPE across the map if you have to XD lol.Falls-With-Grace ~ Shadowscale (Argonian Night Blade)
