Welcome back weekend download

Hey friends,
I'm a total noob to ESO I played about 30 minutes during open beta uninstalled the next day and basically forgot it existed...
Since last week I have received emails about the 'welcome back weekend' for some beta testers so I thought hey why not can see if the games been changed for the better etc, so I proceed to re-download the game client, the launcher says 31GB or close(forget exact numbers) no problem I'll leave my PC on since 15/04/2015 at about 10am, I am on that same PC now that still hasn't been shut down or lost internet connection, the ESO launcher running quietly in the background I almost forgot about it when I load it still 5GB left to download...and the game folder is almost 80GB.....
I'm lost as to how this launcher works but what a gigantic put off this must be for so many people
My download speed maximum is about 2mb/s not the best but still not the worst either!
Sorry for a QQ post but its very frustrating and I'm an inpatient manchild with nothing better to do
