• EU megaservers for patch maintenance – January 21, 9:00 UTC (4:00AM EST) - 15:00 UTC (10:00AM EST)

Will there be multi platform crossover for players?

OK, so my original plan was that I would switch to console when the console release came but that got shot in smoke when it became apparent ZOS wont be doing this on xbox 360, but I can play ESO via computer with medium graphics. [my rig aint good enough to have good frame-rate on high graphics for ESO] I have a friend with an x-bone [as he calls it] who might get this for console when it releases and I am wondering if we will be able to team up?

My instinct is telling me this wont be a thing that can happen, but if I am wrong and someone out there can confirm that I will be very happy.

    Each platform will have its own separate server, sadly. You will not be able to play with your buddies unless they get the same version as you, I'm afraid.

    They should let everyone play together on the same servers. If Square Enix can do it for FF14, then ZOS should be able to as well.

    Nope sorry, all platforms to the best of my knowledge have separate megaservers.

    What I've heard is that the problem is that Sony & Microsoft will not allow cross play between their consoles. Not sure if it's one, the other, or both behind this, but I doubt we'll see that change.

    If they were to forego one console, then cross platform play on the remaining ones would likely be allowed, as with FF14.

    That's the thing it wouldn't be between Sony and Microsoft...I use a HP tower computer running a windows 8.1 OS...it would more be between Microsoft console and Microsoft PC.

    Why that should be so bad I do not understand. But if its going to be as you say well then that just sucks and shows a remarkable lack of foresight...

    As with all things ZOS [and I don't want to flog that dead horse] its a terrible let down but then what's new there?

    The other reason they didn't push for it is the control limitations. Players with a keyboard and mouse may have an unfair advantage over console players in PvP.

    Stop this speculations.
    Sony and MS online services are separate. ESO gameservers for this consoles are depending of this online services.

    There is NO MEGASERVER. The term used as mega server implies that there are a bunch of different little servers that your character jumps between for different zones/ phases of different zones. It is completely possible for eso to ONE day be cross platform. My brother refuses to play on anything other than a PS4, so for me it is very important that they make it cross platform. The only thing holding it back are the individual companies trying to get people to buy their rediculous system

    FF14 is a pc/ps4 game only, you don't have the xbox license/terms/corporate agreements that come along with offering it to said platform on FF14. While the technology isn't in question as to whether or not it can be done (clearly it can), things like this come down to corporate agreements and often it is way too much of a headache to make happen. It can also simply be that no agreements can be reached between the various parties involved. :(

    FF14 is also on PS3. You are right, though. It's probably corporate agreements, that Sony and Microsoft do not want to share servers.
