There's a sense of wonderful synergy when you're running with players along a quest, delve or public dungeon. I really enjoy the spontaneous collaboration in bringing down mobs, even when you're not grouped. I know that some people complain that other players will clear out an area, and then there's nothing left to do, but that rarely happens to me. I think the respawn rate is actually pretty good for low-level mobs and bosses alike.
I do believe that one needs to be a little circumspect when encountering another player going up against a challenging mob or world boss. I know that there are players who really want to test their mettle by going solo, and that's the reason for this post.
While playing last night, I saw a player go up against a world boss solo, and my first inclination was to jump in and help. But watching for a moment, I realized the player was really holding his own, and it was fascinating to watch the combination of attack, backtrack, heal, and attack again. I realized that there was a lot to learn by simply watching other players perform. When the boss went down, I did a simple /say "Nice job!" and the player responded with a TY. Later on, I watched 2 sorcs, obviously grouped, working in collaboration to plow through mobs. What an amazing light show! It was fun and satisfying to simply kick back and watch. And quite a bit inspiring also.
My point is, most of us will plow through this game concentrating on our own performance, and forget to appreciate the skill and performance demonstrated by others. I hope that others who read this might offer their own experiences in watching other players play, and the lessons they might have learned from other players. And one more thing to consider: How many abilities can you identify being cast by another player in the midst of battle?
