PVP Arenas in PVE Areas

What about various arenas in cities where people can bet on themselves? Winner take other person's money. You will see the list and decide to challenge or not depending on the person's fame and the bet. People who just want to practice, they can bet 0. They can actually even do it 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3. This way nobody is messing with the PVE crowd.

P.S. I will prefer an open PVP server but that will probably never happen. :(

There have been discussions about this before. Frankly I don't remember what the arguments were against doing this, but I know there were some. Seems like a decent idea to me, though, even if I would likely never do it.

Hmmm.. so no bets from crowds? I enjoy that. I think bets from crowds could easily be exploited.. but that would be really cool.

I would REALLY like the idea of being able to watch though! I probably would not participate very often, but I would love to watch some epic battles!

If they made an open/gank style pvp server I would delete my chars , free up all the char slots and re-roll there.
So would a lot of people.
And I don't even care if no one else is logged into it, I would still play there just for the off chance of battling someone while grinding mobs, just to break up the routine.

If one or two players attacked you while you were in a zone leveling . . . its a good thing, wakes you up/gets you riled up.

It would be nice if we could just check a check mark on character creation "enable pvp without invite"... and anyone can attack you who also has the pvp check mark on.

I dont like invitational systems where you have to get invited to fight .. . its just stupid... and all it results in is people spamming eachother with popup windows.
If you wana fight me, just freaking hit me.
All you have to do is give us some damage reduction, say all spells do whatever they do to mobs but when on a player it does 30% less. . . . problem solved.

Another arena thread :/ already done. The idea was players can enter the arena and fight others or players can spectac real players battles and place bets on the match.

Look ill design the entire system for you.
    General Layout:
    Untitled.png

    Step 1:
Both players Enter the arena matching area.
    (red or blue)

This prompts the players with a notification that they have entered the Arena and the match will begin soon (120s counter or something).
All the gambling NPCS yell in their surrounding area that the match is going to start soon and to place your bets.

Players can bet on Red or Blue at the NPC.

Once the bets are locked in, the players about to fight will be randomly assigned to one of the colors (teleported randomly to either red or blue).
And the match begins 10s from then.

If the player assigned to red wins (for example)50% of the money place on the blue bets is lost and sent to a pool of gold.
    (Jackpot).
and the other 50% is split between the two gladiators.

The players that placed bets on red when red won will double their money.

The two gladiators also have a choice to place a side- bet (the gambling npc located in the corner of their arena) and if they win they simply take the other players money.

The system is free from abuse, it cant be used to duplicate money/gold easily as the winner is randomly chosen by color assignment (RNG).

In order to win the jackpot pool of gold (that keeps increasing) the gladiator must be the top of the leader-boards for the week, at which point the gold is mailed to him/her and the jackpot resets to zero.

To spice it up an npc should be in every town announcing the weeks jackpot for the gladiators tournaments every 10 min or so (so people hear "hey the tournament jackpot is 50,000 gold+ maybe you wana get in on this!!!)

It has to be random player colors because if it isn't people will game the system by feeding one player wins in order to loot the jackpot.

The incentive not to feed has to be there, some kind of account wide penalty for lossing to many matches (maybe cap it at like 10 losses a week).

You could have a ranked arena and an un-ranked arena with no jackpot and it would be safer probably.

The goal should be to combine baccarat with pvp tournaments.
