Race Change

I would like to test out some other races on my 4 VR14 toons without grinding a new toon to find out I don't like it and wasted my time....Is there any plans to give us this option in the crown store ZOS??

And you did not read the post. He said he doesn't want to grind a new character to VR14 since it does indeed take a lot of time.

If you want to testdrive something, go PTS.

That said... I have 8 characters, and since I made them all following a character idea while disregarding the exact racial boni ... I for one would not need a race change until they add a new race or three.
Though I wouldn't begrudge it showing up in the crown store for a hefty price - if any who want to change their race pay, say, 15 bucks worth of crowns to add to the developers warchest, it just means more content for the rest of us all thatz sooner I'd think...

And yes, this matter has been posted about more then a dozend times. And likely will continue to be reqested and discussed untl they add it, or make a definite statement denying it alltogether.

I for one believe race change should be allowed and payed for in the crown store. However I believe a quest should be tied to it.

It could be another quest were you die and your body is so badly damaged your soul cannot be placed back inside your body and you get to choose a replacement body.

At the very least, race changes should be allowed due to all the changes ZoS has made to our characters since we created them. People chose certain races at character creation with racial passives in mind that fit their image of how they wanted to build that character. Now many of those characters are stuck with racial passives that no longer fit their build. This doesn't fall on poor decision at character creation, this falls on ZoS for making those passives obsolete due to several changes to skills and builds.

And I would rather stick a hot poker in my eyeball than re-roll and level that character all the way through vet ranks again just for a different race. Especially since it isn't my fault that the passives are no longer any good for my build.

Please ZOS add this feature. I made a huge mistake. I had it down to 2 choices, and I chose the wrong race. I'll give you $$$

I, personally, am against any implementation of a race change. Especially if its just for the sake of changing racial passives. But I might be ok with a one-time race change at some point in the game so long as it was tied to a difficult quest or a one-time crown store purchase.

That being said, if you need to test out a build with that particular race at that particular level, I would recommend the PTS server.

Thought that is what happens when a person becomes a Soul Shriven.

Have seen Redguard NPCs burst themselves into flame and respawn as Altmer Soul Shriven.

I like this idea, personally though I would never suggest having to pay real money.

I would like a class-change and i would buy it for crowns, because I don't have the time to level all classes to VR 14 and swap between them.

Please, give it to us, ZOS

I would be fine with it not costing money but only if it was a one time race change and after a long quest chain.

Having any big changes tied to a quest would be nifty!

But it also would take much more time to implement, they'd have to make a whole quest instead of just put a thingie in the crown store with a bit of name/gender/race re-selection code...

Though they could always do a combination of both... have a one-time quest to change appereance/name/gender/race in the game, and sell a thingie in the crown store that resets this quest for people who really need to change again. Though I guess it'd be more likely they'd require buying a thingie every time one does the quest... (although, getting one for free would be a neat subscriber loyalty reward... just sayin'... ;) )

As for not paying real money, well, that ship has sailed and sunk. During subscription-only time it would have been reasonable. Now... they need to have people buy crowns to supplement their income, so they will charge crowns for any big changes or other services they add. And let their players decide if the change is worth the price.

I'm okay with that. I want to do one namechange and several recustomizations to finetune appereance on my characters, and I wouldn't mind spending crowns on those.

Because certain players with certain standards and a willingness to project them (like certain min-maxers) will view the ability to change race like the ability to change armor. If it is available for change, then if you do not have the right combo you are not permitted to enter the group. And like armor ratings and ability tweaks, if racial passives were changed, a new optimal build is found. and a race-change could very well be made required for certain people.

The practice of having class/build standards is already in place, and permitting a race change will merely add another layer/barrier onto it. In this sense, the game will not change much, but I do not want to encourage that behavior. Especially if that barrier is tied to real world cash and not just difficult in-game mechanics.

I'd like to see race changes in the game as well personally, but like many have mentioned here on a limited basis perhaps once per character, or attached to some difficult quest only available at VR14, though I still have a long ways to go before that, hah.

It would probably be less complicated to program a VR14 token and sell it in the shop.

It just requires a new character creation, and you'll only lose the experience you stored after you hit 14.

It would probably be really popular with the All PVP All The Time crowd and oh crap we just hit P2Wville again.

I would love to have a one-time race change option available. My main is a VR14 Bosmer templar, and she definitely wasn't meant to be a healer to begin with. Then someone tricked me into trying healing, and the rest is history... I couldn't be arsed to level a new VR14 for race only, I have a life outside of ESO too.

Alliance change would be neat too... I made toons in all alliances before I knew about cadwells, and if there was a one-time "defection" quest I would have to think hard about their fate... I might let all my alts run away from the invasion-happy covenent and the babykilling dominion (just play the pact storylines  ) to join my mains in the pact...

Race change I can do without, at least until new racial choices show up, then I might get tempted... but as i stated before, I wouldn't begrudge it to anyone else, if they pay crowns for it, since that'd finance more content for all of us that much sooner.

Class changes also have been thought about... though I would think those might be a tad more difficult, considering all the class skills. Still doable though. Again, I personally wouldn't see any reason until they added new classes, but... if someone who really wanted to pay a big stack of crowns for it, why not?

This already occurs even if it isn't expressly stated in an advert. You can bet they're thinking it in the back of their mind. These types of player will always exist and adding the option to change races wouldn't change that.

This is not helpful or constructive. We have already tested and know for certain we'd like to change races on our mains or whatever on the live server.
