Suggestion: divorce & polygamy (crown store wedding rings and resets)

A lot of us got married right off the bat when the game started but our partners have long since quit the game or abandoned their characters, leaving us with hunk of junk that are no longer worth the gold it was stamped out to make. Taking advantage of the crown store however, why not sell us pledges and resets?

Pledge of Mara - a 1000+ crown option to marry another player, normally part of the imperial edition set this will give a ring to you snd a partner on that character to help you level. If you have alts or multiple leveling buddies, you'll have to purchase multiple pledges. A pledge can only be used by a character once on another character, and is now tied to the character that made the pledge. So Bob who marries Sue puts his ring and gives it to Frank, Frank and Sue get no bonus.

Divorce - feel that selling pledges has too much potential for exploit? Then give players the choice of divorce for 1000+ crowns! This will melt the pledge ring you made (not one given to you) and reform it into a pledge. I feel the ex-spouse should also have theirs melted, but I understand where that may cause issues, do at minimum just you account. If you'very already deleted yours hopefully there could be a process to recover and give out new pledges.

I'm sure if you sold this option a lot of folks would definitely buy into it. Thank you for your time.

IMO I would never use this ring over my healers habit. These should be like a trophy and not take up an actual armor spot. Just my OP.

Sacrifice the stats to get the exp boost, that's the trade off I see =3

If you are grinding though, the stats of one ring won't make a difference in the world.

And that's where the Ring of Mara really shines. I certainly wouldn't wear it into a trial or Cyrodiil

Since Orcs can potentially marry more than one wife... LOL I really do think the rings should be purchasable in the Store, especially in light of the fact that they will also be selling potion XP boosts. But in order to be able to use a new Ring of Mara you should have to first destroy your old one. That can be your symbolic "divorce." And when you destroy your own ring, the holder of the ring that went with yours, their ring is transformed into a fresh pledge IF they were the original owner of the Pledge of Mara used.

THEN...give us more than the ONE shrine to Mara where the rings can be activated. Put a few of them in picturesque locations across Tamriel for the RP crowd. After all, ZOS gave us a wedding dress, may as well go the rest of the way.

The current locations in the middle of the newbie starting town and central cities is sort of like getting married in the middle of times square at rush hour isn't? Maybe even times square BEFORE they cleaned it up, given all the stealing going on.

They should have never tied an Exp Boost to being married. We already get a boost of sorts duoing the game and not being married.

Then they could remove the marriage restriction and let use Divorce or Remarry as we see fit.

If it's "giving me" a bonus, then I should be wearing it to get it.

And while polygamy and such are lore-appropriate, if you are "mara"-ed to more than one person, should you all have to be grouped together to get the bonus?

Players should be allowed to buy as many rings of mara as we wish. No divorce, just destroy the ring if you're done with it. No reforming of pledges or anything. Just addition of new pledges. If I have 10 people I want to perform the ceremony with, that should be allowed and I should be able to swap out rings depending on who I'm currently playing with. Grouped with two people you've pledged with? Put on both rings and get a 20% boost!

I agree with this, but then let's remove the entire marriage idea from the rings, too. If it wasn't for the experience buff I suspect only a few people would getting married. We can call them rings of share experience or maybe One Night of Bliss? Friends with Benefits? Tomorrow I won't remember your name?

I mean, married? Nothing kills a loving relationship faster than an artificial contract inspired by religion and enforce by the government.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

That's actually an interesting idea. Making different "versions/levels" of commitment rings.

Maybe the ones they would sell in the store that would have the XP boost can just be "friendship" rings and possibly not have a limit on how many people you can share them with. Then they can ALSO have the rings of mara for the RP crowd and believe me...they'd sell.

I like this idea, and you could even call them "rings of devotion", any two characters go to pledge, and you planned it well, you could have A, B, and C all connected (A has an AB ring and a AC ring and so on).

While they're at it they should add a whole Lover's Lab inspired dlc. l would believe that in a mediaeval-type world like Tamriel a marriage would not be legal without being consummated first, and one's options for doing that are pretty limited at this stage. The game has an 18+ rating like Skyrim after all

I "married" my male friend.... and we play brothers in the game. We are straight and don't consider our characters to be incestuous gay men, we just use the rings to get a little boost in-game.

No need to let it bother you.

When will the Divorce work so that the new Rings of Mara that are offered in the Crown Store will work for those who got married before?

My partner died. It's time I moved on.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

There is no divorce, however the rings of Mara were added in sometime after this suggestion & you can marry as many as you want

You want a divorce, just take off the ring. If you want something more formal, RP it. You want to marry somebody else, just buy a new pledge of mara from the crown store. You want multiple spouses, keep multiple rings, and equip the one that matches the person you are grinding with at the time. All of this functionality already exists within the game.
