Actually no, they said several times that it was removed because it was "Unpopular".

I think they removed prior to announcing Tamriel unlimited to prevent users will make payments for too much months before knew the option to play free.

Which makes sense because many more people would have tried to get a refund for the subscription otherwise. Many other games with similar changes did the same. For good reason.
I have approximate knowledge of many things.

If true that is perfectly understandable and makes sense that it has returned now that Unlimited has released.

While that all sounds great, the truth remains that they didn't give that excuse did they? They laid it out as though we the users were the ones who didn't want it. As for hater's gonna hate, dude! Seriously? I've been here, subscribed since beta and plan to keep on playing. I just find dishonesty from a company to it's customers distasteful.

Actually it is currently hindering my enjoyment of the game because despite the fact that my credit card information and address have not changed, their account system is currently not allowing me to change to this option claiming that there is a problem with my address.

There are things that can not be told until the indicated time. Perhaps part of the truth is that most do not choose this payment method and knowing that TU was inminent was removed under that premise to peotect the minority who accesses to that payment form.

I understand the thinking behind not telling why it was removed. What I am talking about is outright lying about why it was removed instead of just keeping the story to themselves when we all know they're quite able to not say anything at all if it suits them. In this case they did not.

In essence they did lie. At the time it was removed they never said it was because it was going B2P so they was removing it so they didn't have to refund people. They said it was unpopular so they removed it. Why didn't they just say the game is going B2P so we removed it until afterwards so we don't have to hand out lots of refunds? Unless a half truth is still consider not a lie. Hmmm...I guess that takes some ethics.

If you can forgive zos for the kinda laughable 2 faced preaching of 'come to the church of subs, subscribers, we welcome the religious and faithful, thanks for money', when behind the curtain, probably from day 1, there was plans to suddenly swap out god of monthly payments for the devil of b2p at the pinnacle moment..

Then removing the 6 months sub was a considerate and thoughtful gesture towards players. I think there's 2 different issues there, one positive and one not so much.

EDIT: Personally b2p ftw, its great and perfect. Thankyou b2p.

From my experience in business, sometimes its best to give the customer a quick answer which is not long and detailed.

Saying that it was an "unpopular" choice was not a lie. It most likely was an underused sub option considering the game and its subscriber base and how unpopular the game was (not really unpopular, but not a AAA MMO).

So they gave that explanation because it was quick, truthful and really all that was needed to be said. It was a response that would garner less public outrage,

Or......they could have explained that they would have hypothetically had issues with subs and people asking for refunds......which would increase customer support work time and load. Which then would cost the company more money and headache trying to reverse financial transactions.

But really, the community did not need the long explanation, a small quick answer was all that was needed.

Now that the option is back, people can use it. If people are having issues currently, then they can sort it out normally with Customer Support as normal.

    Its business Damage Control.

You obviously weren't paying any attention then because the reason they had to go B2P is because Microsux would not waive their own subscription fee. That was made clear on several occasions! PS2 had waived it for their platform. Microsux was the holdout that caused the switch so the sub option would be fair to all.

I know it wasn't repeated on the English forum, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Probably the worst of all things they did, because this one was a straight-up lie, impossible to chalk up to a change of plans, miscommunication and whatever else ZOS usually uses to explain their decisions.

They knew. They left us in the dark for months.
Saying that it was an "unpopular" choice was not a lie. It most likely was an underused sub option considering the game and its subscriber base and how unpopular the game was (not really unpopular, but not a AAA MMO).
Please. It might have been unpopular, but this wasn't the reason they removed it, otherwise they wouldn't have brought it back so quickly - it certainly isn't going to be a bestseller with all the new people returning for TU only because the game is free now. They removed it to avoid refund requests. It's completely understandable and I don't blame them for that, I blame them for lying about it.
